Pinching the Eiffel Tower - Paris

I enjoy taking photos of tourists taking photos as much as I enjoy being a tourist taking photos. I just found this picture fun, as this gentleman was one of several lined up along this stretch doing similar poses!

Stewart Memorial Fountain, Kelvingrove Park - Glasgow 

I loved the goddess-like figure of ‘The Lady of the Lake’ and imagined her facing a wide array of storms and weather patterns in a calm and contented manner. I love how her hand subtly signals to this vast, electric cloud - instructing it to be still and steady.

‘Home’ - Taken in Manchester.

As a non-mancunican I feel a bit of a fraud with this photo but, being from London, this urban night-time landscape is what I have grown up with so I like the title being plastered onto the image the way it is.

“Walking home, late at night, blind drunk” (Working title) - A street in Salford.

I was not blind drunk when I took this, nor was I really intending it to look like this, but when looking at it afterwards I decided it nicely demonstrated the long, lonely walk home after a night out.

I like the contrast of colour, moving into more greyscale - left to right. Also how the orange lights echo the glitz of the city. And the spinning effect is obviously appropriate.

I arrived in Plymouth this week and am staying near the water which is rather nice. Had a little walk at sunset by the harbour and captured this. The sun was mostly behind clouds but it was still rather lovely. 

I’ve got into 16:9 ratio recently, especially for skies and landscapes. I found that the boat masts kept getting in my way so I decided to feature them for some context.

I like this image as it has a dynamic feeling, as if the clouds are on the move. I also like the colours, thanks to some white balance experimentation. I love the blue/pale yellow combination in general. I think it keeps it calm where another colour palette could be more threatening for these clouds.

I took this in Paris on holiday there last week. I loved this cloud that looked like a huge ball of smoke and how it’s emerging over the domestic buildings. 

The little glint from the window bottom left wasn’t intentional. I can’t decide if I like it or if it distracts from the overall image. I have another without the glint but also without the balconies on the right hand side and I liked those more than I didn’t like the glint. 

I also love the deep blue of the sky which is accentuated by the white cloud. 

I was really into the rows of chimneys that are on all the buildings there so I’m glad that is captured here, in real life and in the shadow.

Arriving in Bristol once the sun has set. 

The low, mountain-like clouds inspired the image. Fairly grainy due to low light but I like the quality that gives it. And the little beacon of the church spire, bottom right.
