Welcome to The Book Exchange! The idea behind this Tumblr is that users will post books that they wish to lend/give away and request books from other users that they wish to read - simple. Anyone can share a book with the Library. Simply click on the "Share a book!" link in the header to learn how! Once you have shared a book with The Book Exchange, you are immediately given the option of becoming a Member of the blog. This means that you are able to post directly to The Book Exchange - essentially making this a truly cooperative blog run by those who have a vested interest in its success! To browse through the library (without also browsing through the other posts on the site), simply click on "The Library" link in the header. All books have click-through links to an external site such as Amazon or Goodreads where you can learn more about the book. To request another member's book, just send them a message via their "Request It" link! Shipping internationally is costly and inefficient. Because of this, it is possible to search for books only within your country by clicking on the "Find Books In Your Country" link in the header. Don't see your country there? Be the first to share a book! We've had visitors from EVERY continent! (Except Antarctica..) The Library: The Library is filled with books that have been generously shared by other Tumblr users. Each post is essentially a notification to everyone that, "Hey! I'm willing to share this book with you!" How cool is that? Shipping: The owner who posted the book to The Book Exchange is responsible for the cost of shipping their book. Shipping domestically is CHEAP (around $2-3 in the U.S.). Again, shipping internationally is costly and inefficient - so make sure to notify users of where you are shipping your book from. To learn more, visit "Shipping Information." This system is obviously not perfect, but is based on trust in others and a philosophy of sharing. Do not post any book that you would be devastated to not get back!! Have fun. My passion for the exchange is still burning and I'm so proud of its success thus far. Thank you to all the members who kept it going while I was away!
