@the-city-nuthatch
hi i’m gay as hell
Performative gender freaks me the fuck out.
HEY
Someone give me one of those really long surveys about yourself with a bunch of weird questions usually aimed at 14 year olds.
I've got a lot of tedious data entry work to do.
please and thank you
What a labour of love! Here’s hoping it found a happy (if not slightly odd) home.
*This submission is bringing me massive amounts of joy! Thank you!!
Donald’s Birthday
OH MY GOD
OH MY FREAKING GOD
DUCKS EVERYWHERE
The fact that someone was actually paid to put a little hat on EACH AND EVERY ONE of those ducks is beyond me.
my dad has ducks, and he loves them like no tomorrow, and his birthday is at the end of january, and i am going to do this. (except maybe to the gigantic drake that's the size of a swan and could probably smash me with its wings)
This is Katie Sandwina, vintage strongwoman extraordinaire. She worked for Barnum and Bailey’s in the early 1900s. According to legend, she met her husband while taking on all comers in wrestling (an area in which, much like Rejected Princess Khutulun, she remained undefeated). Her future husband, Max, approached the ring thinking that it’d be easy money. According to his later recollection, he only remembered entering the arena, a blue sky, and getting carried away by Katie like a sack of potatoes. That’s him looking up to her in the last picture.
She worked into her 60s, bending iron bars and besting her male contemporaries in feats of strength. The name Sandwina even comes from her famously defeating father-of-bodybuilding Eugene Sandow in a weightlifting competition.
You can find more on Sandwina here.
Also the subject of an upcoming episode of our podcast!

How the internet works. From Toothpaste For Dinner.
hmm okay i signed up to attend a thing that i am super interested in, hosted by a group of people i would really like to work for someday.
sounds good.
however, i am quickly realizing that my skill level in this field is absolutely not up to par with what's going to be going on at this workshop and i'm afraid that i'm going to be a pain and useless and embarrass myself and then definitely no one will hire me ever.
the rational part of my brain says that i should go anyways and just be enthusiastic and willing to listen and learn and make myself known to these people (90% of which will def be supergeek white dudes, so that's a whole other thing) so they'll remember me when I want to work for them later.
but then the less rational part of my brain wants to dig a hole and crawl in it forever.
and then the greedy part of me wants to go and take the free food and tshirt being offered and then just leave without saying anything to anyone.
LUCKY STRIKES!
I thought it was filled with bees.
hahahahahahahahahahah—oh god.
I have $80k in loans and had to drop out before I even got a bachelors.
So. Could be worse?
word.
Literally nothing tastes better than ranch dressing.
hahahahahahahahahahah--oh god.
whoa canada
someone needs to turn down that sass level
Two things to know about Canada!
We are smart enough to know hot things should be hot.
We are sorry if you don’t
A few things you need to know about this hot coffee case:
It wasn’t an issue of the coffee being because no fucking shit coffee is hot, but McDonald’s had over heated their water to 250 degrees Fahrenheit. That’s 121C. Not just hot, but really FUCKING hot. Your fancy Starbucks lattes are brewed to 150 degrees.
The 79 year old woman had this cup of 250F (121C) coffee between her legs when it spilled so 250F (121C) coffee spilled on her genitals
She got third degree burns…on her genitals. THIRD DEGREE.
She had to have skin grafts to repair the damage
When she sued McDonald’s, it wasn’t for millions of dollars, it was for $20,000 to cover hospital costs and court fees. 20-fucking-thousand.
It was the courts that awarded her the amount of money she got. Again, she only wanted hospital bills and court costs
McDonald’s changed their heating policy, but not before making her sign a gag order keeping her from talking about this case
So she had to live on hearing little shits like you call her stupid and money-grubbing, and other horrendous stuff because she dared ask the company in the wrong to fix what they fucked up.
MORE FUN FACTS:
9. The woman who was burned was not driving the car, she was a passenger.
10. The car was not in motion when she was burned. The car was parked so she could add cream and sugar.
The coffee case is one of the biggest examples of a carefully-crafted smear campaign by a company that is in the wrong trying to hide that.
Yeah people from our country use this case as an example of idiot customers winning frivolous lawsuits. It’s very difficult to find out the truth behind lawsuits like this when crooked-ass companies control the dialogue surrounding them.
The true story of this is so important! I'd seen this before and was trying to explain it to someone. Also, as a coffee snob, let me just say that you should not be making coffee at those temperatures. 175 F, max. I'm not gonna shame anyone for getting McDonald's coffee, you drink what you want/can afford/like, but 250 F is far far too hot for some coffee.
This really is exactly how it feels.
My Dad Got Twitter
So I'm back here to say all the secret things I don't want my dad to read
I dyed my hairs
I just wanna apologize for all the times I secretly thought coming out as genderqueer was not that hard. I'm still very very uncomfortable with the way people are labeled in the world today, and idk if 'genderqueer' is the term I'll eventually settle on, but I'm sorry for the times I thought trying to change those labels would be relatively simple, rather than something that tears you apart inside regardless of how supportive your friends and family are. More as this story develops. Thanks for keeping my eyes open all these years, tumblr.
