Okay, so as it was apparent these last few weeks, I haven't been all that active due to recent scheduling.
I used to have a relaxing Tuesday but still having activity and nothing on Wednesday, but as of a month ago Wednesday will be a bit mor active, leaving the weekends + Friday free.
I do however want to try and be active (and send some asks/replies that I owe to some ppl), but don't expect me to be as active as I was all those years ago not that I have been as of late.

Just me rambling about me with network and server stuff ahead, buuut...
So I had a slow upload and download speed between my PC and my NAS/home server-- and by slow I mean 100 MBit/s. I don't mind 100MBit/s when it comes to my actual internet speed, but when it comes to transfer files between devices in my local network 100 Mbit/s is very slow, especially if I have like literal hundreds of Gigabytes of data stored, which takes hours to get it all backed up.
So before I can consider any upgrades on my server, I do have to tackle that issue first.
I do know that every computer at our home has a maximum transfer speed of 1 GBit/s, basically 10x the speed I currently have. I even checked to make sure what category cables my devices uses and both my NAS and my PC uses CAT 6, which has a theoretical maximum transfer speed of 10 GBit/s.
If my research is correct then a typical hard drive can read and write data at around 1~2-ish GBit/s.
I do however have a cheap-ish Ethernet Switch from the ACTION, which might be the culprit of the slow internet speed.
So that means I needa upgrade that switch, which I am consider doing it hopefully this month-- hopefully a 2.5Gbit Ethernet Switch and maybe get some 2.5Gbit Network Cards to hopefully get some faster ethernet speeds between the two devices.
I could also just go ballin' and just save up and shill out for a 10Gbit Ethernet Switch and 2 10Gbit Network Cards, but uhhhh....
I'd be spending like at least approximately €380,- for an upgrade that I might not make use of it's full bandwidth,
whereas a 2.5 Gbit upgrade would cost me around €116.60 instead, which is cheaper and I would basically get the same transfer speed upgrade since at that point I would be limited to speed of my drives, wil would be around 2 Gbit/s as stated already.
Once I have that installed, I do hope it will adress that issue. Once I have then I do consider getting some more RAM as my next upgrade--
AND YES I KNOW THEY'RE EXPENSIVE! I do hope the ITlab can throw me an extra 8GB of ram. If not then I have this single stick of 16GB ECC ram I have my eyes on., which would already be double the amount of RAM my server has for a surprisingly reasonable price.
let's normalize patience for the low energy/low activity roleplayers in this community. some of us have other responsibilities like paying bills, taking care of family, going to college, and working. this a hobby for goodness sake, people really need to stop rushing people for replies
