For background, I grow a metric ass ton of plants- mostly carnivorous plants and citrus (I crave citrus) but I have some begonias (Harmony’s Stormy Sunset, Carol Knight, Night Eyes, Taconite) and I propagated the Red Begonia Carol Knight since it’s looking a little worse for wear.
Finally, after a few tries, this one finally grows a root system sturdy enough for me to put it in soil! I placed it in soil a few days ago and when they get to that point I have tons of success. With this little shit, no, it didn’t make a damn rhizome, it decided to grow a leaf (it’s very baby and cute) in the top of… its only leaf. Every day I ask them why and their silence is deafening.
For those wondering, no, carnivorous plants don’t smell bad. They’ll smell bad when some of them flower, but the Nepenthes smell like apple skin with a slightly sweet tinge. I get that question far too often or people nervous about touching them or opening up the cabinet to see them because “don’t they smell like a corpse??”. No I would’ve gotten a wellness check by now if they did
