something that just occurred to me about adults fx is on its face (“a group of twentysomethings navigate life and love in a major metropolitan area”) it’s such a generic sitcom premise that you can see which classic archetypes the characters would slot into: samir and billie are the will-they-or-won’t-they storyline between a more serious and driven woman and her goofy male best friend, issa and paul baker are the established couple whose storylines contrast the single characters, and anton is the single gay friend. and if you were raised on the sitcoms of the 2000s and 2010s like i was, you are so well-primed to see these patterns that it feels like a delightful rug pull when it turns out that samir and billie don’t kiss and the real friends to lovers storyline was between anton and paul baker the entire time and also pretty much every character is at least a kinsey 2. not to sound one thousand years old but it feels like a very gen z twist on the genre

daryl dallys height difference with brent during this scene actually means so much to me like it looks like darrel is bullying a kid which highlights dallys age and make his end scene even more devastating cuz ur reminded that he’s only 17 when he dies

something very beautiful about anton being a perpetual people pleaser who needs everyone to love him but is completely unwilling to be legitimately close to anyone bc that would mean he’d actually be vulnerable and paul baker who is so easy going no one even assumes he has any needs but he does and the two of them just bump up together bc they enjoy each other and then begin to actually see each other in ways no one else does without even trying like WHAT A BASIS FOR A LOVE STORY
