Anytime I see a headcanon to the effect of “Darry and/or Soda sunburn like a LOBSTER 🫵” it cracks me up because my friend, these boys work OUTDOORS they are in THE SUN FOR HOURS and you think they’re not tanned as a toasted marshmallow?? Fools, all of you.

Sodapop Curtis who’s only quiet when he’s listening, sitting in silence while his brothers pour out their griefs, a hand on their knee, a warm hug. “You’re doing good” and “I’m proud of you” and “that big brain of yours.” Sodapop Curtis who leaves dinner out for Darry and does odd jobs to buy Ponyboy that book he’s been eyeing in the shop window. Sodapop Curtis who cuddles his little brother to sleep and lays his head in his big brother’s lap, who stays out late helping Steve change a tire and races home with oil-smeared hands and an abandoned bird’s nest he found for Ponyboy. Sodapop Curtis who invites Ponyboy to tag along but never makes him feel like an imposition. Sodapop Curtis who is so full of love it bursts out of him, loud and explosive and silent and gentle. Sodapop Curtis who loves like a life’s calling. Sodapop Curtis.

idk if a grandchild would have put him on it but the world was not ready for soda to see the sleepytime bluey episode. if you thought this guy cried before, the waterworks were unmatched when he heard mum say "Remember I'll always be here for you even when you can't see me because I love you" it was all over (the whole episode is on YouTube if you want to cry too)
