you guys ever think of how grace and rocky have slowly assimilated into each other in all the years theyve spent alone together. you guys ever think of grace becoming more and more eridian and rocky becoming more and more human.

grace picking up the habit of humming simple eridian words. grace tapping his foot twice when he's asking a question. grace instinctively hiding away when eating. grace being unable to sleep unless someone's watching him. grace saying hello and goodbye the way eridians do.

rocky tilting his carapace to convey emotions. rocky turning to "face" grace even when he has omnidirectional hearing. rocky attempting to emulate human gestures with his biology. rocky learning of hugs and kisses and wanting to give and receive them all the time.

they're both not quite human. they're both not quite eridian either. not quite on earth, and not quite on erid just yet. just grace and rocky, among the stars. like the hail mary is their own planet and the universe is the sun she orbits. just them. no one else.

If we're doing explicitly romantic gracerocky then I think THEE moment Rocky realizes he's caught feelings is when he wakes up after coming into Grace's atmosphere to save him. taps on the glass to get his attention and watches him throw himself to the floor and crawl towards him while grievously injured himself. still high off the suicidal self sacrifice cocaine being pissed off that grace immediately put himself in danger to save HIM in turn. he watches him preen like a peacock over doing alien surgery that almost killed him and when grace realizes how stupid that was rocky's still trying to express his gratitude and reassure him it's okay it's alright it uh helped? a little??? and the "oh god I'm hopelessly in love with him" just bodies him. so he spends the next 2 days insulting his entire family line
