I've been noticing something in the Krusielle fandom in the wake of Chapter 5's release: Krusielle optimists and Krusielle pessimists.

The Krusielle optimists (i.e. myself) are the ones who look at all the scenes of Kris, Susie, and Noelle together and get absolutely giddy. Such as Kris being implied to have a crush on Susie, Susie blushing when she gets caught sleeping in Kris's bed, and all the moments with Noelle longing to reconnect with Kris. I look at stuff like this

However, I've also noticed that quite a few people have become disenchanted with the ship. Not in the sense that they hate seeing Kris with the girls, but rather that they think their relationship has been strained and negatively affected by things like Kris being ignored and third-wheeled by Suz and Elly.

And let me make something clear! It's perfectly okay if you're not interested in, or even don't like, a certain ship (i.e. Suselle fans who prefer Kris's relationship with Susie and Noelle to be nonromantic).

People should be allowed to have NOTPs as well as OTPs, or prefer a (queer)platonic relationship for a certain pairing instead of a romantic one.

But there's a big difference between expressing how you feel about a ship and trying to force everyone else to feel the same way as you do about said ship because you think you're always objectively correct about everything.

And yes, there's nothing wrong with calling out shippers who are being toxic, bigoted, or media illiterate!!! But there's a difference between doing that and trying to argue how every single person who enjoys a certain ship is toxic, bigoted, and/or media illiterate.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA watching Kris fight to keep Noelle's head above the water makes this already heartshattering scene SO MUCH MORE PAINFUL! And it really hits that much harder when you realize that Kris is doing this even though part of them wants to end their life to save her and themselves from the player's malice!!!!

There are quite a few hints that Kris was already thinking about taking their life after the Thorn Ring was put back on Noelle: trying to eat apple seeds while at Gerson's tea table, Gerson encouraging Kris to keep on living when he hears them tell him they're "going nowhere", and managing to halve their HP when attacking the Soul in Noelle's bathroom (which they only stopped doing because Asgore interrupted them).

And yet, this scene shows that there's still a tiny flicker of hope within them, that, despite all the suffering they endured and were forced to inflict upon her, they can find another way out. That they don't need to drown with Noelle, so that you won't be able to hurt them or anyone else.

But in the end, it's still not enough. They absolutely want to stop Noelle from going into the lake... but everything you've done to them has led them to believe they don't have any other choice. That the only way that they can escape the trauma and suffering that you've brought into their lives... is to let her end their lives.

As I said once before, Deltarune Snowgrave is a cosmic horror story, except the twist is... YOU are the cosmic horror.
