Heyya, you can call me S, or B, my pronouns are he/they, and this is my art blog! I’m 25 years old, I try to post semi-regularly, but social media is kinda hard for me so Im not super active. I was raised evangelical, de-converted myself because of an intense Percy Jackson obsession lol. Im not super smart, like I know enough to not be entirely uninformed, but Im not really one to read about history or science just for fun, even though I do think both subjects are really cool to learn about.

There will be some artistic nsfw every so often so be warned.

Critiques of my art (or anything I post) is not only welcome, I encourage it!

I say this because I want to improve, and having other people’s perspective is so valuable to me!

My big thought project- A D&D setting that I made brought to life in a comic… that only exists in my mind, for now! I have a lot of work to do before I can really make this what I want it to be.

The story would mostly follow two mens love story, as they make each other better… and worse…

•Alien Motel

Set in small nevada town, a young woman is starting a new job at her grandpa’s Starlight Motel. Depressed and unsure of the future, this comic will follow the daily misadventures of Haylee as she realizes there is more to this quiet town than she initially thought.

How to look for indie comics from Black creators!

As you may know, there was recently a DC Comics boycott as a part of the DCSoWhite movement since DC has not had a mainline ongoing solo with a Black lead for over 1200 days. You can read more about this here, here, here, and here. The boycott has been cancelled (link), but that doesn't mean we can't still show support for Black comic creators!

One of the things the movement called for fans to do was to "[Support] Black creators through independent and creator-owned projects." So this post is meant to provide tips on how to do this.

Check out other works of Black creators you're already familiar with

The Black comic creators you're already a fan of who have made comics for DC or Marvel have likely also made comics for other publishers too. You can usually find out about other comics they've worked on through their Wikipedia page, social media pages, and their own website if they have one. And it's a good idea to follow their social media to learn about any of their projects in the future!

Look through indie publisher websites

A great way to find out about indie comics is to check out indie publishers' websites. There will almost always be a page on their websites with all their comics so you can easily look through them and the creators will be listed so you can look into the creators too. This is one way to find out about Black comic creators who you might not already be familiar with.

The publishers that are listed as examples in the webpages linked above are Image Comics, BOOM! Studios, Vault Comics, Ignition Press, and Stranger Comics.

Check out existing lists

There are already lists online that specifically recommend Black creators to check out and comics by Black creators. You can also find recommendations and lists on social media. This is another great way to find out about Black comic creators you're not yet familiar with.

Speaking of lists, I would like to point you to this post by @bimboopo which includes a list of many Black webtoon creators which you can go check out!

Hopefully this guide will help people find out about more comics by Black creators. Support these creators by reading, buying, and talking about their comics. And even if the boycott is over, still make sure to sign the petition.

Hey everybody,

So, I wanna be clear: I use this page to platform fundraisers specifically for people and causes of Black African descent. We often don't even consider that Black people exist across the globe, and have to deal with the same suffering and political conflicts in tandem with pre-existing antiblackness. Sudan, Congo, Haiti, Cuba, Palestine, etc. I want to use my position to amplify their voices, to give them the spotlight and space to be seen in a world that often neglects their existence.

That being said!

My peers (of all backgrounds) and I have been sharing fundraisers for Gaza for at least three years. And I recognize that that's a while, but folks being tired of hearing about it doesn't prevent suffering from occurring. It doesn't stop people from experiencing horrors under genocide. So often I get asked on my personal page, why no one is listening or helping, and I don't have anything to tell them. I don't know what to say anymore.

Because I see what they're saying, I do see how it feels like my peers and I are basically circling fundraisers between ourselves at this point. I see how the world treats them, and I don't know what more I could possibly say to convince people to care, after everything we've witnessed. What could I possibly say, if that's not enough?

We could use your help. But much more importantly, the people of Gaza could use your help! Even if you can't donate, reblog a campaign post shared by your peers every now and then. Pick one family's campaign and commit to sharing that one, if nothing else. Anything is better than nothing. Everybody on here claims to have some sort of marginalization and struggle that they wish to be witnessed and acknowledged, so I know you understand and empathize.

Anything is better than nothing, y'all. Please.

being black in any art community is such a strange feeling cause you’ll see just blatant racism being expressed in others art and you have to just casually ignore it, for your sake if anything, colorism being something that’s just fundamentally there in every artist and you deal with it cause it’s not worth it in the end to even think of it too hard let alone even mentioning it, it’s definitely something

I think Fear and Hunger really did a number on me with its ending for The Girl. I spent a long time getting the party strong, getting all the resources I’d need for a grueling journey, all while struggling to survive at every point in the game- only to find out that achieving her true ending would essentially kill The Girl and turn her into a true god, that one hurt a lot.

I felt really bad for that ending, to the point where I played another run where you leave the dungeon early so there could be one timeline where she gets to be taken care of by people who love her.
