I love the idea of King Arthur having incredibly advanced and anachronistic knowledge of certain things and average dark ages knowledge about others. Because he was educated by Merlin. Camelot has incredibly good sanitation and disease prevention measures but King Arthur also thinks the sun revolves around the earth because that’s what Aristotle said and Merlin didn’t think it was worth unpacking.

people write these loooong essays being ‘critical’ of the characters and what they’ve done in the story like the characters are real people—when all their complaints can be boiled down to the fact that the writing in BBC Merlin just wasn’t that good lol. people would have so much more free time and would likely enjoy the fandom more if they accepted that.
