It's spooky time

Desert Angel

•sun kissed skin, spotted with galaxy’s darkened by the golden rays

•gentle scent of cactus blossoms hanging around your form

•red sand folded into your feathers and staining your bare feet and hands

•wind whipped hair from standing on all the high points and wondering if you could just jump and if He would catch you

•familiarity with the snakes and spiders, knowing they have the secrets of the desert

•bathing in the monsoon rains that soak the dusty earth and making crowns with the flowers that bloom after

•sharing nectar with the birds and bees and bats because it’s the closest thing to heaven you can taste

•watching as your home shifts from day to day, as the sands ride alone your bones and rub them raw

•bones and stones woven into jewelry that you adorn yourself in taking pride in the gifts the desert gives you

•hot as heaven days making the low temperatures in the evening chill you to the core

•running with the coyotes, sleeping with the hares, singing with the doves, becoming friends with the wild

•the stars at night hanging just out of reach from your touch, making you delirious to feel for heaven again

•seeing God in the faces of the cliffs, in the wavering of the heat, in the petals of the flowers, kissing them all and trying to find answers
