Caitlyn couldn’t help but laugh softly at that, giving him a soft smile. “Many of us are afraid to show our marks, so we hide them with glamours.” Looking over at him, she smiled. “You aren’t wrong there. I mean, one of the warlocks that I know is almost 800 years old, some are even older than that and are still kicking. It is rough, having to see the people you love die and you are still here, having to pick up the pieces. It’s why sometimes it’s hard to be friends with mortals.”

“What’s your mark? If you don’t mind my asking?” Peter smiled, hoping he wasn’t being annoying with the amount of questions he had but there was so much to learn and be curious about here. “Dang, that would suck. But hey, we’re inevitably going to die, and our lives are better or more interesting with immortal magic people in them, so there’s pro-s to this as well. If you avoid mortals you guys would likely be lonely? Unless there’s a lot of warlocks and such in which case I guess that works out.”

“With all the cool people from stories around here, I feel like a crappy NPC. Like I should just stand on a corner repeating “I used to be an adventurer like you. Then I took an arrow in the knee.” Every time someone talks to me.”

“Seems we are.” He smiled at the other boy before giving a slight wave. “Well, hi, I’m Peter. I promise I’ll keep walking and stop talking at you at some point.”

“Damn I’m jealous. I’ve got nothing but being weird and normal.” Peter laughed a bit before shrugging. “To someone like you I’d likely still be like a baby when I’m 80. Immortal huh. Must be both awesome and rough sometimes.”

“They asked me what I wanted to study for my major and I don’t have an answer. I’ll be a junior, I should figure it out, but...I don’t even know whether to choose something for here for something for the real world at home. Or if this would even count at home.”
