Submissions are now invited for the East Sussex Open 2014.

Now in its fifth year and with growing popularity, the 2014 exhibition moves to the summer and has been extended from a 7 to a 10 week run, from 4 July – 14 September.

This is a fantastic opportunity for artists from the East Sussex region to exhibit in Towner’s vast gallery space, during the gallery’s busiest time of the year.

East Sussex Open 2014 is open to artists and makers working in any media who live or work in the East Sussex region, including Brighton and Hove.

Works of all sizes can be submitted. The Towner Exhibition Halls have a total area of 668 sq m, with a ceiling 4.5m high.

Joining the Exhibitions Curator Sanna Moore on the judging panel will be guest selectors, Artists Becky Beasley and Matthew Cornford.

Then come along to The School Creative Centre and get going in our new print room! Our Harry F. Rochat press prints sizes up to A1 and is available for your own printing projects as well as for holding workshops.

“METAL CaSTLe: The Musical” is a mockumentary about the ups and downs of trying to follow the heavy metal band METAL CaSTLe as they fulfill their dream of making a West End musical. It was screened in the School Creative Centre’s theatre space on Thursday 5th September to rapturous applause. James Thompson and David Georgiou, former students at Bexhill College, together with friends Joe Bodle and Jeremy Fermor have realised their ambition to make this full-length feature with the support of The School Creative Centre.

Catch a glimpse of their hilarious piece of work with this trailer and keep your eyes peeled:  David and James are currently working on their next film - a part-animation - which will be screened in the theatre space throughout Christmas Bizarre on Friday 6th and Saturday 7th December!
