AFTER A VERY LONG HIATUS

Welcome Back to the Shadowlands!

An 18+ server, intended to be a space for witches of all paths to discuss their craft or just hang out. No path or practice is off limits in this server. . 

The server is equipped with channels for members to share craft resources or funny links. 

There is a channel for more formal discussions on different paths, practices, traditions, or magical theories. 

According to demand and member availability we might do formal classes, ritual nights, or even a witchy movie night

We learned a lot from our first go round and have taken this time off to really work out what kind of community we want to build. I think the Shadowlands is going to be a positive environment for anyone that is new to witchcraft or simply looking for a community to grow your path. Just to Clarify Something

The main reason white people are unwelcome in ATR and other indigenous religions is that a key element in these practices is that we are an extension of our ancestors. Additionally, it is a vital fact that these practices were used to solace our ancestors through the violence and injustices of colonialism and slavery. All of that together means that white people as extensions of their ancestors are extensions of that violence and would not be welcomed by the spirits that guide practitioners. In fact calling on them would be a literal extension of slavery.

Anyway, the argument isn’t that everyone should practice the religions and practices of their ancestors. The argument is that descendants of colonizers and slaveholders cannot use a practice used to heal slaves and those who were colonized without causing further harm. Any other take is just lashing out because someone told you that you can’t do what you want and now you want to do the same to them.

A friendly reminder that this specific server is not a minor friendly place. While the admins personally support people of all ages journeying to find their path, our server occasionally discusses witchcraft and related topics in a non-minor friendly environment. Also the mods and admins are simply uncomfortable with  the concept of training and educating minors. It feels exploitative and a bit like conditioning.

Down for Maintenance

The mods of the Shadowlands are currently taking the server offline while we restructure the channels and procedures in order to make the server more streamlined, efficient, and to cultivate an overall more pleasant experience for our users. Membership applications will still be open and our current members will still be able to view the server. Access to the main channels will simply be restricted while we tool around with them. Updates will be posted on this blog as they occur as well as in our Procedures channel for those already in the server. To our current members and hopefuls. Thank you for being with us on the server’s journey so far and we hope you’ll embark on our next steps with us!
