I miss being 4 years old,

no need to stay in bed,

curious,

longing for nothing more than to fill the day with the dreams I had awoken from

I miss smiling without having to follow cues,

finding an intensity in all aspects of life.

I miss feeling something,

anything,

yesterday was a chore,

today an endless torment,

tomorrow unthinkable,

crying to cope until no tears come forth,

knowing that the end you seek

is no longer an option,

because just as everything else,

you have already failed at that too,

and mom and dad,

they tether you to this consciousness

we stay for them.

I miss the idea of excitement,

the idea of pleasure,

invariable

pleasure unharmed,

pleasure pure.
