anyways death stranding has always been about motherhood and i think having it be a male character going through it AND themes of miscarriage, post-partum depression, and thus tricking loser men to play the game is perchance a stroke of genius [thinks too hard about stroking] i have to go

Sam means so much to me, he’d a male mc who isn’t aggressive, doesn’t push to fight, will gladly run away over going fist to cuffs. He doesn’t see women as objects or tools for his own gratification. He’s quiet and calm and love’s through his actions. He shows others kindness over and over, going out of his way to help people even when it isn’t necessary for his goal.

he doesn’t have to save those lost porters, he doesn’t have pick up random cargo, and he doesn’t have to help random people who call in for him, but the game rewards you if you do. meaning that to play sam in his purist form is to go out of your way constantly to help and reach out to others.

I love how collectivist this story is, how it’s incredibly important to help other people not because of some grander scheme, but because showing other’s genuine kindness makes the world better, less harsh, less painful to live in.

Sam works 24/7 for others, yes for selfish reasons, to keep the nagging pain in his heart at bay; but learns over the games run that doing good things for others always comes back your way eventually.

I love sam, love him dearly, my grumpy sweet man who loves with his heart, his hands, his feet and his work.
