Gun control polices are proposed after many major shootings, but no major reforms have passed. If they did, how many future ones would have been avoided?

The Los Angeles Times has put together a set of graphs that show what mass shootings would have been theoretically stopped by particular laws. Without diving into a point-by-point rebuttal, I want to point out one graph in particular, the third one down on Assault Weapon Bans:

The graph literally shows multiple mass shootings happening during the prior AWB, and yet they still somehow conclude that an AWB would prevent mass shootings.

I cannot begin to fathom how that made sense. There’s direct, objective, empirical evidence that AWBs don’t actually prevent mass shootings right there, in their own damn graph, but they still can’t admit it doesn’t work. Are they actually retarded, or just hoping their readers are?
