Blue ringed optopi are some of the most venomous marine animals. A single octopus carries enough venom to kill 26 humans!

All four members of the genus are quite small (just 4-8 inches long) and would rather flee than fight, but they secrete a potent neurotoxin called tetrodotoxin (TTX). This powerful sodium channel blocker paralyzes the diaphragm, causing death within minutes without artificial respiration (most victims do recover with timely medical intervention, though). There is no anti-venom.
