Nene usually just quietly watches Emu with her antics, wearing a stale expression which would lead most to believe she’s irritated by her bubbly nature, but when approached by Rui about her specific feelings on Emu she says,
“I find it fascinating how someone can be so happy all the time. She has no fear around people at all.”
“You must envy her then, right?” Rui replies with a smirk.
“No, I’d never want to be like that,” She scoffs. “I don’t have the energy.”
“Yes. A lot of energy from that one. Imagine the things I could do with it if there were only some way to harness it…” They tap on their chin, getting briefly lost in thought.
“You know if you hooked Emu up to a hamster wheel she’d love it,” Nene remarks. “Probably forget she’s human, too.”
“You’re putting ideas in my head!” He sings in a pleased tone. Nene gives them a smack on the shoulder.
“You know Tsukasa’s the only one you can legally abuse,” She jokes. “Emu’s different. I don’t think she understands danger.” Nene emits a small laugh, watching her in the distance as she endlessly pesters Tsukasa on the wonderstage. Her confident stance, her sharp, but flowery tone of voice. The little jolt of excitement that goes darting across her eyes when she has an idea…
She goes quiet, lost in brief contemplation. Why do I find her fascinating? Shouldn’t I hate her? She’s so annoyingly joyful… but can I think of anyone else with so much joy? It’s almost… sweet?
She watches her jump around on her tip toes, like a small dog trying to make itself look bigger. What word am I looking for? Why do I feel like I could watch her hair dance to her jolting movements forever…
Rui leans over Nene’s shoulder, bearing a toothy grin. She snaps her eyes in his direction.
“Not a word.” She grits her teeth, the smallest blush creeping under her eyes.
