You may call me Tracyn, I use he/it. My main blog is @night-or-blucher

This blog is dedicated to archiving Lynd Ward's illustrations done for Lascelles Wraxall's translations of Victor Hugo's Les Misérables.

This blog is for archival purposes. My images can be used and passed around with or without credit. They are indeed my images, taken from my own copy of the book. All I ask is you do not claim these as your own.

These pictures do not display the entire page. When able to, the page number or chapter title is displayed. When not, I will add it upon upload. The point is to make clear where each illustration is done, so they can accurately be seen and talked about.

This will contain only original posts. This is an archive.

Please bear in mind that Wraxall has a few translating quirks - some of his chapter titles will vary wildly from more standard translations. You may not recognize some of the titles; refer to the tags to check which volume, book, and chapter it is.

~Tag directory~

#lm x.x.x - This is the format used for volume, book, and chapter, ie., #lm 1.1.1 #character - This is used for character names. What they are referred to most commonly in text is what I use (meaning Cosette is tagged as Cosette, not Cosette Fauchlevant) #x digression - This is the format used for the various digression, ie., #waterloo digression #my posts - This is used for every post on this blog, Les Mis related and not #les miserables - I would recommend perusing this tag, or a similar one, to see all illustrations on this blog and avoid my housekeeping posts

Hey all! Rare housekeeping post - I've added tags for the digressions. You can now see Waterloo, convent, slang, and sewer digressions as you please~!

I have also updated the pinned to include a short tag directory!

And that's a wrap! Thank you all so much for your support and enthusiasm for this archival project of mine, as well as your patience with the pauses and breaks I've had to take.

So; what does the future look like?

Eventually, I'll have to go through and re-tag a good chunk of posts with the appropriate Les Amis. I'm not terribly familiar with their part of the brick, so those illustrations are rather lacking in proper tags.

I have plans to build a website! Tumblr is a good place to start, but it's rather inaccessible, and should my main blog be taken down (again) then this blog will be entirely deleted.

I also have plans to put this particular copy up on Project Gutenburg. This will be a massive undertaking and will eat up quite a bit of time.

And on a final note, I would like to remind you these are pictures and not scans. These images are free to use for any use, and credit is not required (though appreciated ^^)
