Grace came through the door, heart pounding in her chest and her anxiety up to 100. It was almost as if euphoria was trying to cover up her anxiety but it was doing a very bad job. And she practically looked like a zombie. “I just wanted to have fun and everybody seemed like they were having fun but this is not fun.” she said. “My heart feels like it’s going to burst out of my chest.”

Grace swallowed hard and nodded before taking a few deep breaths. “I don’t know why I thought this would be fun.”

Grace nodded before sitting on the couch, knees pulled up to her chest and head pressed into her knees as she took deep breaths.

Grace sat on the steps, cigarette between her lips as she took a long drag. Her hands were shaking and she could barely think straight.

Alice sat beside her and took the cigarette from her mouth. “Stop that.”

Grace looked over at Alice and sighed before laying back against the stairs and covering her face with her hands. “It just…takes the edge off of…everything.”
