The 206 Project

There once was a creator of beings who created all sorts of whimsical things. One day the creator made small and beautiful beings, that she knew the world would love, but before she could send them out into the world, their skin peeled off and their organs fell out but they still stood. The creator smiled as some tried to put everything back in place, saying ‘no, it wasn’t meant to be’. The small beings stood in their bones only, worried. The creator simply let them go out into the world, hidden to those who would never understand them or love them, and visible to those who want to cherish them.

Vincent got some new legs for test yesterday and then I made more size appropriate legs for him. So far so good. A little hard to rise him up but that was more my error then anything else. The legs are bendable/adjustable and so so so so so so so so so much better looking. Now to find some pollen.

New leg style?! Why yes. Yes indeed. I can stop hurting myself with the glue gun. Gotta add a little hint to the bottoms.

Sometimes I forget how long I’ve been working or the realities of how much clay I’ve used. Sometimes I only remember the bad days and crying over joint issues. Some days I pretend I don’t have anything else to do and that a project that has consumed a lot of my time and mind is just over. Very few times can I sit proud of the accomplishment of making it this far and appreciating the journey ahead. I’m grateful for art finding its way back to me and while I have felt completely understaffed, unprepared an uneducated enough to handle such a task that I have. Almost a week or work and I’m still on the body. But starting the arms. I will be coming back to fix up certain kinks I have noticed after a sanding clean up.

Someone finally got their legs! This little unnamed abeillegra finally went home with their momma after a long wait. Meaning, the next thing I sculpt will be for sale finally.

So I broke the spine which was totally traumatic and tear inducing. So I’m taking a break and pouting about it. It’s honestly an easy fix but it was kinda heart breaking to go from… Strung up to broke back. Also side not to myself more then anything… Fix the freaking hip joint. I have made several types and still nothing works.

Despite my despicable mood I got some work done today and well I can’t even enjoy it yet but guess who I got standing on her own today?!

I have started welling out the joints, though I will have to add some stuff to them for the knees. Its a start, and so much more needs to be done, but they fit together, I am so freaking excited because I was really fighting to get to the point. Gotta get back with my dremel tool and cover myself in clay tomorrow.
