I’m writing a book about a young serial killer who commits his murders off of impulse, desire and passion. He doesn’t stalk his victims and kills them in a certain way. No he kills off of instinct, drive, from an animalistic side of himself, extremely primal. It’s a side of him forged from the dark memories of his past, the way people treated him, the neglect he felt, all of it built up and stored in a mental cellar. Waiting to be released upon society. Waiting for him to snap.

I lie awake at night. It’s never truly peaceful. There are questions that’s I ask myself, like how did I ever sleep as a child? But then again I don’t remember a lot of my childhood. Just bits and pieces. My brain did it’s best at blocking all the things that happened when I was young. As I’ve grown older, I find that sleep eludes me. At every nocturnal encounter. Or is it me who’s eluding the gentle hands of sleep? I dare not close my eyes and fall prey to my nightmares. I do not wish to awake in the dark of night screaming. Crying. Reaching for someone who isn’t there. Where are you, sleep? If you’re here with me, why can I not feel your touch? If you are supposed to be restful and kind, then why do I fear you? Why is it that I long for you, yet I am afraid of what you bring?

I kept myself away from people for about 24hours. Now that I'm back in public, it's like every person is a possible threat. I know that all of this is just in my mind, but what if someone does make an attempt on my life, or someone else's? What if I secretly want them to?
