I was having a great day, until the dog bumped my class of water onto the keyboard of my laptop
Crap I hope there was nothing important on it or you can get it fixed.
Spent the night out on the town while is different but I enjoyed myself. Now home and watching Katt Williams on Netflix. Can’t stop laughing. All I really need now is pizza and wine and I’ll be set. Ooh better yet pasta. And maybe some cake. Yep that sounds like a good bet. Someone tell me to get up.
Noooo don’t move that sounds like a great night to me; pizza, wine, cake and a great show.
Sawyer rolled his eyes, smile on his face giving away how he really felt. “It’s why you keep me around.”
He was a bit taken aback by the kiss, making sure to kiss her back before pulling away. “We have to take things slow,” he said quietly. “We’ve got Eva. We…this has to be careful.”
“Somebody has to” She responded, enjoying their light teasing, glad that even though she was a mess Sawyer could still make her smile.
Thea kissed back, and was still smiling when Sawyer pulled away. “Deffinately, I don’t ever want to lose you, your friendship means so much, an Eva needs you too, this just feels right...” she replied softly.
“You won’t need that.” He gave her another small smile. “You’re too strong and stubborn for your own good. You won’t do anything that would hurt Eva.”
Sawyer ducked his head. “I…it felt right. Sorry if you didn’t like it. I can stop.”
Thea laughed, “It’s like you make it your lifes mission to insult me yet compliament me at the same time.” She rolled her eyes playfully.
She giggled softly at his blushing and grabbed his hand. “No I like it” she replied softly, plucking up the courage to kiss him, a little harder than the previous little pecks.
“I will be,” he said as he gave her a smile, kissing her softly once more. “We’re going to be alright. I know we will be. We will be for our daughter.”
Thea smiled, “We will, for Eva, even if I spend the rest of my life going to AA and seeing a therapist.”
She bit her lip. “So the kissing?” she blushed
Sawyer smiled at her. “I promise.” He leaned forward and kissed her softly, just a quick peck. “You’re going to be fine. Eva’s going to be fine. This will all be in the past soon enough.”
Thea felt heat rising in her cheeks, it was so long since she had felt someones lips against hers and it was breath-taking. “As long as you’re here we will be” She responded softly, moving closer to him, but still feeling to nervous to go all the way to kiss him.
Sawyer cupped her cheek with his hands, forcing her to look at him. “Listen to me right now, Thea Nelson.” He took a deep breath. “You are going to get this under control. If I thought you couldn’t, Eva and I would be long gone. You are so strong. You don’t give yourself enough credit for how good you are.” He sighed before kissing her forehead. “Please believe me when I say you’re okay.”
Thea breathed heavily, close to tears. “You promise?” She replied quietly, letting her eyes move across his face, searching for some sign he was just making it up.
“Yeah I did,” he said softly. “I had you. My parents. The rest of my family. I was going to be this big baseball star and I fucked it up.” He leaned forward, pressing their foreheads together. “You need to stop beating yourself up because of your past.”
“But they all had each other, Eva only has you and me” She sighed. “You still could have been if you didn’t end up loving your job so much once you got sober on parole.” Thea closed her eyes, breathing heavily. “I don’t know how...”
“Will you stop with that?” He sat up a little, moving so he could look at her fully. “When we met I was a drug addict. I drank all the time. I didn’t do anything sober. Does that make me a bad person now?”
“No, you’re not a bad person, but when you were doing dumb shit you didn’t have another human depending on you” She replied not able to look at his face.
Sawyer held her close, hand going to play with her hair. “Amazing mothers admit when something’s wrong. And they get help for it.” He looked down at her. “Trust me. I’ve seen so many times mothers who can’t handle things and leave. You stayed. You’re fixing things even though it’s not fun.”
Thea sighed happily, feeling safe and warm. “Yeah they do, so I should have admitted something was wrong not turned into a drug addict” She pulled a face, not understanding why Sawyer was defending her. “I might have totally checked out if it wasn’t for Beth”
No. I mean. You’re totally talking about me, your best friend, but I don’t have a PHD.
Then I’ll just have to find a new best friend who does have a PHD or is working on one hmm I wonder if there is anyone I know doing that.
I didn’t finish my PhD
He’s working so hard it’s painful to watch so I don’t blame you.
Sawyer rolled his eyes dramatically as he moved over to Thea on the couch. “Please,” she said before picking her up, laying down before putting her next to him. “You’re an amazing mother.”
Thea wouldn’t admit to shreaking when Sawyer picked her up. “You’re the worst” she laughed, being around Sawyer made her feel lighter after the last few months. “Amazing mothers aren’t drug addicts, amazing fathers are always there for their little girls and go back to school to give them a better life.” she responded snuggling close.
I can say that you’re an awesome mother and an even better friend. Is that okay?
But you’re a better dad so no you can’t.
Now get over here and cuddle me.
I am not a nerd. I am just trying to better the lives of the people I love.
Never said it was a bad thing silly! We love you for it. As long as you don’t psychoanalyse me haha.
So proud of my best friend finishing his first week of his PHD studies
I love you nerd!
