It’s not Cultural Appropriation
Okay I’m annoyed. First off I Ojibwa by my father and European by my mother so I was born very pale, so let’s get skin tone and ethnicity out the way.
But all this junk posted on the witch, pagan, wiccan etc tags about using the term smudging as being offensive or owning a dream catcher if it isn’t gifted to you is also wrong and you get accused for culturally appropriating, is just absolutely ridiculous. And it’s nearly almost always the white peeps who make these posts and the white peeps who then tag along and agree. And most of us brown people people are the ones commenting on those posts in confusion saying that most of this junk isn’t even right.
Like yes. Voodoo is a closed pratice, Shamanism is a closed pratice. But telling someone that using and practicing on your chakras is cultural appropriation, and karma and so one and so on is all cultural appropriation is just…. like where did you get that from??

Like I’m so just exhausted from seeing that shit. Cultural appropriation has been taking incredibly out of context and now it’s just people being over sensitive. You don’t have control over other practitioners and their choice in what they want to do. My belief is as long as you’re not taking from a culture and saying it’s yours and only yours without learning about it and appreciating what it is then you’re good. You want to incorporate practices? Learn about it, get smart. But don’t fucking tell others that they are in no way allowed to do something because of their skin colour or ethnicity. That just breaks everything you preach.
