Review: Pride of the Mediterranean
Yesterday, at 4p.m. my friend and I dined at this place called Pride of the Mediterranean and Hookah Bar. It is located on 1761 Fillmore Street in San Francisco CA (Japantown/Lower Pacific Heights district). It's kind of a funky, colorful place. Parking is a challenge. Very walkable. The menu is nice, plenty of items to choose from.
I started out with their Turkish Coffee (not for the week) My friend had their Turkish tea (she enjoyed very much) I ordered the Lamb Shish Kebab served with grilled veggies (carrots, zucchini, and eggplant) and turmeric rice and yogurt sauce.
I asked them about their spices. The owner's wife is the chef, which kindly came out and informed me of the spices. Spices: turmeric, thyme, curry, paprika and ground mustard seed. Yogurt sauce does not have any spices in it.
The owners are from Pakistan. Service was great! Food arrived promptly!
I did not have any kind of reaction of any kind from their food, so I wasn't "Glutened" I would definitely go back!

Ingredients
1 package of UDI’s small tortillas (8 ct)
1 cup of black beans
1/3 cup of corn
1/3 cup of diced red peppers (add or substitute yellow & green)
1 small sweet potato
1/4 cup of diced onions
1/2 tsp chili powder
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp of fresh or dried...
Gluten Free Bake Flautas
Soooo Yummy!
Ingredients
1 package of UDI's small tortillas (8 ct)
1 cup of black beans
1/3 cup of corn
1/3 cup of diced red peppers (add or substitute yellow & green)
1 small sweet potato
1/4 cup of diced onions
1/2 tsp chili powder
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp of fresh or dried cilantro
1/2 tsp cumin
1/4 tsp cayenne or red pepper flakes
4-6 oz of grated cheese
1-2 tbsp of enchilada sauce
Salt & pepper
Oil or oil spray
Fresh veggies to garnish
Salsa and/or guacamole
* Optional: Shredded meat (can add shredded meat if desired)
Directions
Pre-heat oven to 425 degrees.
Poke a few holes in sweet potato, wrap it in a slightly damp paper towel and microwave on high for 5-8 minutes. Let potato cool slightly until it can be safely handled. Peel and disgard skin; rough dice potato.
Combine all ingredients except spices and veggies for garnish.
Add sweet potato to the rest of the mixture. Add spices and mix well.
Warm tortillas (either in microwave or oven) so they do not crack when rolling.
Spray or lightly brush oil on one side of tortilla with oil.
Fill tortilla with mixture and top with cheese.
Place on non-stick baking sheet.
Bake at 425 degrees for 15 minutes. Can broil on high for a minute for extra crunch.
Add veggies to garnish. Serve with salsa and/or guacamole.

Recipe:
1/2 ripe papaya
1/2 ripe mango
1/4 cup Guava Juice
1/4 cup plain milk
1/4 cup coconut milk (optional)
Mix everything together and blend until smooth!

I am totally hooked on this quick and easy, healthy and fulfilling gluten free meal! The chicken is all white meat and the veggies taste super fresh! Very quick and easy to make! I have been finding this product ALWAYS at Target and sometimes at Wholefoods. They have 4 other flavors, but I have only tried this one.
