I read the article and he robbed 4 banks and went to federal prison for a mere 11 years, got into prestigious schools and now he’s a law professor at a top law school? Only a white man could have this story.

Nice try.

Thornton sold drugs, saved money, and now sells real estate.

Hill sold drugs and is now a successful entrepreneur – meaning he made those opportunities for himself.

Sole used to sell drugs as well.

Selling drugs/ possessing drugs is a nonviolent crime. Robbing a bank at gun point, not so much.

And even so, Hill and Thornton had to create their own opportunities. They weren’t given acceptances to prestigious schools and then handed a tenure track job – which is hard enough to obtain for somebody with a clean record. And none of these men have been handed opportunities from prestigious universities.

On top of that, all of these Black men are from impoverished neighborhoods where selling drugs was more accessible than a quality education. The white guy, on the otherhand, grew up in a middle class Nebraskan family. Why he decided to rob 4 banks at gun point is unclear to me because he didn’t need the money.

So the point still stands.
