Colombian diaries - First days in Cartagena
After a 10+ hours flight, we finally arrived in Cartagena. And I have to say that this city is one of the cutest I have ever seen.
Let’s just start by saying that our Airb’n’b is in the best location ever, AKA in the historical center and that we have a view directly on the streets of Cartagena.
We arrived really late in the night but jet lag made me wake up at 5am. Perfect time for me since I enjoy waking up early! It gave me more time to do my home workout and also prepare a nutritious smoothie with the local fruits and I have to say that it tasted DELICIOUS.
But enough self-talk.
Colombia has a lot to offer. The tourism here is quite developed, but the locals have still to get more used to it (at least in my opinion).
The old city of Cartagena is the main place to see and to be. I loved getting lost in these colorful streets and exploring all the areas. You can hear music in every corner. Also, don’t hesitate to taste the local street food if you want a full experience :)
We really loved the Getsemani district because it’s less crowded and the streets look the prettiest. The hot weather (30 degrees at every time of the day) didn’t stop us from getting around the different little streets.
I took pictures of every door that I saw and I wish one day I could have a similar one for my house :P
Living here isn’t that cheap anyway. With Cartagena’s old town being the most touristic attraction, you have to be aware of the prices which are higher than expected, especially for Colombia. However, you pay also the price for security and safety.
So yes, if you ever come to Colombia, Cartagena is definitely a must-see and is also one of the most photogenic cities I’ve ever seen!

Hey Mum! I’m in Pisa! (itinerary)
Hey Mum! I’m in Pisa! (itinerary)
For 5 whole hours!
Pisa was just a stepping stone for us on the way to Cinque Terre. After reading a few guidebooks and blog posts on the subject…
I have a problem
I decided to only spend a few hours in the city.
You can find out more about my thoughts on that decision here.
In advance, we purchased a ticket that would allow us access to the major sites on the Piazza dei Miracoli (the Square of…

Hey Mum! I’m in Pisa!
You know, the guidebooks all tell you that Pisa is only a day trip. It’s somewhere you quickly pop over to while you’re in Florence just so you can take photos trying to high-five the Leaning Tower. It only has the one thing. You don’t need to be there for more than a few hours.
But you know what? THEY’RE ALL WRONG.
HEAR THAT LONELY PLANET?
I DON’T AGREE WITH YOU.
I HAVE AN OPINION.
DO I STAND…

Graz’s iconic clock tower. First mentioned in texts dating back to 1260. Probably built by an allosaurus. (at Schlossberg)
Graz’s glockenspiel has two dancers that twirl when it chimes. Can highly recommend Glöckl Bräu under it for dinner. I love how Austrian’s name restaurants. It’s a brew bar by a clock, WE SHALL CALL IT CLOCK BREW. Can’t fault that logic. (at Glockenspielplatz)
If there aren’t any locks, you clearly aren’t on a bridge. (at Alte Donau)
You know, I think I like unemployed Monday’s better than employed ones. (That being said if anyone has any jobs going in the Vienna area please hire me) Our little flat sits between two stretches of river. It makes for the perfect morning stroll. (at Alte Donau)
View from the steps of the natural history museum. The statue is Maria Theresa. It’s always Maria Theresa. Even when it looks like an Austrian war hero on a horse, it’s still Maria Theresa. #asthehorse I’ve been story-ing my adventures a lot lately. If you don’t mind really stupid jokes and pictures of ceilings, you should check them out. I really like ceilings. (at NhM Naturhistorisches Museum Wien)
Hendy and I have travelled through time Outlander style. We now find ourselves invaded by the Romans. Please send help. And snacks. (at Römerstadt Carnuntum)
