60 Lettering Practice Sheets
Couldnāt find calligraphy practice sheets online so I thought, hey, itās just a bunch of lines, I can make ones for myself. It didnāt take me the 10 minutes I thought it would, so I thought I may as well share my hard work. Ended up with 60 variations. Let me know if you have suggestions to add to it!
Links are below, with the a complete list and explanation at the bottom. Thereās also a tiny watermark of my blog, and Iād appreciate it if you donāt take it out, but hey, I wonāt do anything if you do either. Just donāt redistribute without it, please!
I wonāt be posting individual links because 60 links is just too cumbersome. I zipped the files according to height proportions and slant.
By height proportion (x-height : ascender and descender): 1:1, no x-height marking 1:1, with x-height marking 1:2, no X 1:2, with X 2:1, no X 2:1, with X 2:3, no X 2:3, with X 3:1, no X 3:1, with X 3:2, no X 3:2, with X
By slant: No slant guide, no x-height marking No slant guide, with x-height marking Midline guide, no X Midline guide, with X 30 degree guide, no X 30 degree guide, with X 45 degree guide, no X 45 degree guide, with X 60 degree guide, no X 60 degree guide, with X
or you can just download all 60 sheets!!!
Some extra info that you donāt really need to know:
All sheets are printable on standard 8.5inx11in paper. Margins on the image is half an inch on all sides, so still printable on A4 size, just with different margin sizes.
The sheet numbers are sheet details. First digit is the x-height, second digit is the ascender and descender, last digit is just the slant guides, and the āxā means that the x mark is displayed at the left.
Example: Sheet no. 230 means 2 x-height is to 3 ascender and descender height. The height is basically in quarter inches, so a 2 is 0.5 an inch and 3 is 0.75 an inch. The last digit, 0, means thereās no slant guide. Since thereās no āx,ā thereās no mark at the beginning of the line.
Corresponding numbers for the slant guides (3rd digit): 0 = no slant lines 1 = x-mid line 2 = 30 degree line 3 = 45 degree line 4 = 60 degree line
The naming convention was basically for me to organize it better. So up to you if you rename it.
beautiful.
Starting something new. I was meaning to make this some kind of travel blog, but Iām a lazy writer, so Iāll just put all myĀ ācreativeā things here. And by creative I mean things that come out of my mouth/hands/brain. Maybe it will be a travel blog, or an art blog; I have no idea, but I hope it will be something.
Work inspired by Kerri Winterstein.
