Potential Fixes

A fix for the news not making money is to have all news sites have users pay for subscriptions. if not all media sources use this and only a few do then the few that do should have the best looking sites with the most features and info so even though they have to pay they would rather go there than go to the free site. its like buying a more efficient car for more money than having that alright car for less.

A fix for the bias seen on social media is that we have social medias change the features on where you see what you most like. so if you like democratic stuff on your feed then news sites like Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram would usually show more Democratic things on a page based on your post or recent likes. but if social networks change there algorithms, so when you like or post something instead of giving a page of things you would like; there is a page on a widespread of things. For example if someone like a lot of democratic things then they would see democratic and Republic things. This makes it so you see both biases and you have a more educated opinion and you have reasons to support things

Concerns in Media

One concern is that it is hard for online news to be kept up because it is making no money. the media sources are are making there news free so they make no money and cant continue to pay people for articles or update there sites.

What are some areas of concern when it comes to the media today?

Some areas of concern for media today, are that the news hides things from the general public, or tries to blow things way out of proportion.  Many Americans feel like the media does not tell the whole truth about about  situations, and that it is not a reliable source.  People also feel like the media can be biased, and that they may try to sway people into agreeing with them by not showing both sides of a story.

Another concern is that people are not reading newspapers or magazines as much for their news, instead people are now going online, and watching television to learn about current events.  The newspaper industry is suffering drastically from the switch to technology.

What is the overall general feeling towards the media in this country today?

Most people feel like the media can be biased, and not show both sides of a story, or blow things way out of proportion, and these videos we shot prove this point.

How and where are American's getting their news? (You should include some coverage bias and where different Americans go and trust their news from here...or somewhere...)

Most Americans watch the news on television, and almost seventy percent of Americans use laptops too. While sixty-five percent still listen to radio.  Although things like radio, and newspapers have become less popular with the creation of television, and the internet, people still use them.  In fact more people read newspapers, and listen to radio, then look at their cell phone, or tablet for the news.

What are some potential fixes for those areas of concern?

With the internet people can find both sides of stories, but there is still the problem that anyone can post something online, and these sources may not be as reliable. However with the internet there are more options to read different stories on the same issues, and people can choose not to believe in only one source this way.

Newspapers are going online and posting stories, so more people view it, but they do not make as much money this way so not as many newspaper companies are going to be able to stay in business.  Potential fixes for the newspaper and magazine companies, is to change, people love technology, and that is where the future is.

What are some areas of encouragement when looking at the media today?

Some areas in media that show encouragement in news is a global wide news reporting, useful way to get important breaking news to the community. 6 in 10 americans get the media news online. The media can be used as an instrument to make a difference. Motivate people to take action and improve the environment. The images and be a good source to get people to watch if there are visuals people tend to pay more attention to what you are talking about.
