Ok so the context of Wicked makes the events of The Wizard of Oz so much fucking funnier and I can't stop thinking about it. Specifically all the drama right there just waiting to explode with Fiyero and Boq in the same group is immensely funny to me. Both guys have chosen to lie through their teeth to this child so as to not terrify her and that would be fine if the other guy wasn't there staring at them like he knows something!! This happens at least twice. Every accidental name-drop of the Thropp sisters, every sideways comment about people they "knew a long time ago", every time one of them knows a little more than he ought to about a place he's supposedly never been, every unnecessary flinch and pointless attempt to take a deep breath, every little habit that just seems oh-so-familiar in that maddening way; All of that shit gets pinned on their mental conspiracy boards. It's haunting them so bad and they are both trying so hard not to scare this kid with how she accidentally ended up deeply entangled in the single most insane soap opera plot in Oz history. Comedy.
