He pursed his lips and let go of the stone railing. As much as he grew tired of Greed’s constant presence, he was right. He was stuck with him forever… or at least for the time being. He couldn’t hate Greed for it either.
“I just need some fresh air.” He murmured.
He strolled into his room and dressed as a commoner. Now, Ling was a trickster and sly and he’d always done this when he was younger and still a prince, doing this as an emperor would likely be frowned upon even more. He adjusted his conical hat and looked in the long mirror.
Ling chuckled lightly and put his hands on his hips. This certainly brought back memories! He tried to forget about the exchange of words he’d just had and attempted to smile off the bad mood and the responsibilities he was shrugging off.
Well, he had to hand it to the kid. He was in a constant state of impress when his wiles were concerned. And this clothing was a lot lighter, a lot more comfortable, especially in the warm Xingese climate. It...well, it didn't look too classy, but really, 'classy' in Xing was still, to Greed's eyes, faintly ridiculous. It was all gaudy and baubles, no sleekness. Well, okay, very little sleekness. A lot of the women especially managed sleekness.
"I suppose this stuff would have to come in handy some day, huh," Greed commented lightly, taking the same road as Ling and putting any bickering aside, for now at least. Perhaps it was something to be discussed later. "So maybe there'll be no bowing at your feet, but I'm sure we can live with that. You kind of look like a normal person now." Not that he didn't look...well, passably normal most days. But the emperor thing was a big deal, and honestly, Ling was far from a normal person in the first place.
Aaah. A life of normalcy would never really suit him anyway. Either of them.
"We all sorted?" he asked, "Let's get going. If we're lucky, maybe your girlfriend won't catch us." To be honest he was awfully fond of the little bodyguard - she was pretty and kickass - but it could definitely get a bit tiring, her incessant need to trail after them every so often. He commended her dedication, yet also found himself often questioning it.
