Oh it's been a while.....

The last time I wrote something on here was over a year ago. Oh how times have changed. Looking back at what was written is quite humorous. The mistakes are unbelievable and I still can't believe that I actually wrote this but we live and learn, and clearly I'm still learning.

If I look back and realise that all of the things I've done, the mistakes I've made and people I've hurt, it was possibly all for a good reason. I've come to appreciate these things as I know not everyone will stand for it and not everyone will be around for long, but once again, we live and we learn.

You live and you learn.

It’s been an interesting week. The banter at work has been crazy from fashion mistakes to just basic corrections. I’ve had it all. But it’s a good learning curve to see how everyone reacts to things and when your in an environment such as mine, getting to know different people is essential.

The famous hat…….I’m still going to stand firm and parade this around with me but I will be very conscious of the looks and giggles that I may receive. I think it all comes with the learnings of work. The openness on others around me, just might allow them to finally understand me and the way I am, so hopefully they can start to teach me things which they’ve learnt over the years.

I’m sure those who may read this know exactly what I’m talking about, and those that don’t, ask and ill explain.

Things are picking up though, with more responsibilities comes more work and understanding clients requests. This is something that I’m still yet to fully comprehend because yes, every client is different but making something out of nothing is a achievement in itself. I think this is the part that I’m going to enjoy the most. The ability to replicate an idea and use it in a way which others have deemed it a s*** idea.

These are all the things I’m learning whilst on my journey of the advertising lane.

Today's Learning

I had a moment today where I visited a place, which I had not been to in a while. I've finally taken the moment to talk about it and express emotions towards it, and seeing how it could possibly relate to my life. The things I learned today, and how it would link to this weeks events and the forthcoming weeks, 

Appreciating the people around me, at home and in the working environment because I have realized that mouth close, eyes open" wasn't just a negative comment which was hurled at me to bring me down to earth. But in fact it was a comment I actually feel now will provide me with the foundations I need to learn in the environment that I now find myself in. Hopefully in the weeks to come, I will learn how to incorporate social media into every accounts marketing activity  Effectively it will all boil down to this as we will have to prove to brands why social media is so effective and the fact that intelligent app developers are continuously creating new platforms to make the user experiences so appealing. Apps such as Vine and Instagram are the two apps that I think will effectively change the way brands view consumers, hence both apps being acquired by two of the main social media giants. (If you didn't know, Facebook bought Instagram and Twitter bought Vine just before it's official launch)

A heart warming moment.

I came across this and it was one of the most heartwarming things to read. It would be good to take a moment and appreciate this.

               Change Your Thinking It will take just 37 seconds to read this and change your thinking.. Two men, both seriously ill, occupied the same hospital room. One man was allowed to sit up in his bed for an hour each afternoon to help drain the fluid from his lungs. His bed was next to the room's only window. The other man had to spend all his time flat on his back. The men talked for hours on end. They spoke of their wives and families, their homes, their jobs, their involvement in the military service, where they had been on vacation.. Every afternoon, when the man in the bed by the window could sit up, he would pass the time by describing to his roommate all the things he could see outside the window. The man in the other bed began to live for those one hour periods where his world would be broadened and enlivened by all the activity and colour of the world outside. The window overlooked a park with a lovely lake. Ducks and swans played on the water while children sailed their model boats. Young lovers walked arm in arm amidst flowers of every colour and a fine view of the city skyline could be seen in the distance. As the man by the window described all this in exquisite details, the man on the other side of the room would close his eyes and imagine this picturesque scene. One warm afternoon, the man by the window described a parade passing by. Although the other man could not hear the band - he could see it in his mind's eye as the gentleman by the window portrayed it with descriptive words. Days, weeks and months passed. One morning, the day nurse arrived to bring water for their baths only to find the lifeless body of the man by the window, who had died peacefully in his sleep. She was saddened and called the hospital attendants to take the body away. As soon as it seemed appropriate, the other man asked if he could be moved next to the window. The nurse was happy to make the switch, and after making sure he was comfortable, she left him alone. Slowly, painfully, he propped himself up on one elbow to take his first look at the real world outside. He strained to slowly turn to look out the window besides the bed. It faced a blank wall. The man asked the nurse what could have compelled his deceased roommate who had described such wonderful things outside this window. The nurse responded that the man was blind and could not even see the wall. She said, 'Perhaps he just wanted to encourage you.' Epilogue: There is tremendous happiness in making others happy, despite our own situations. Shared grief is half the sorrow, but happiness when shared, is doubled. If you want to feel rich, just count all the things you have that money can't buy. 'Today is a gift, that is why it is called The Present .'

A brother is such a firm word that is used so often without meaning.

Being away from my confort zone and putting my self in different environments alien to me, forced me to constantly find myself in deep thought of who I am. My "Brother" Baz  is always in the place that I call home to re assure me of who I used to be and guide me to the man I wish to become. It's wrong as a human being to say that you are a person and you exist purely on the morales you believe because something you would never imagine doing you may find yourself doing. In my personal opinion if you have not changed in any way within a year you are missing something in life.

Staring at a blood red carpet containing more than memories My "Brother" Baz and I sit inside the very room we shared soo many long discussions and deep rooted conversations about if things will ever change, we just hit the top of the nail on its head and was pounding on the topics of, people being different and change being a fear of most people. The underlying message being never forgetting were you came from is beating in  my mind, and no matter how much success either of us will ever find. The days of the realness and expression of brotherly love I wish to reminisce and talk about for years to come.

First day back.

It’s Tuesday and you would think that it’s going to be an easy week, bearing in mind there’s only four working days. But no.

These are the days you question yourself an realise that this is just flashes of the hard work that I will have to face over the course of the next few years. Client requests, colleague requests as well as things you may have put on your to-do list but never got round to it.

The days where friends said “you won’t have no time to go gym” something I do enjoy! And I laughed at them……….it’s evident. There’s a limited amount of time for gym and activities if you want be on top form. I do wonder how people do it. Balance work while there continuously thinking of ways to present ideas because isn’t that the main reason why were all aspiring marketers right?

Even though I’ve had a bit of an expressive moment here, this is clearly where I need to be because while it’s stressful, the learnings are clear to see.

Easter Moments.

The Easter weekend has approached full of inspiring moments, with a family intensive few days is something that I am due to experience starting tomorrow.

However, there's a problem. I can't stop thinking about work and the reality that everything I'm exposed to seems to revolves around work. Have I got the advertising bug?  Aged 21 and already considering where I want to be in the next 5 years. Would you call that to an unhealthy amount of enthusiasm for an industry that's continuously evolving? Or would you call it a positive attitude towards achieving a dream that most don't realize by the age of 27?

I have become fond of brands who have taken positive strides into understanding that "The Generation C" are the most influential group of individuals around and communicating their messages towards us is imperative for a brand to secure it's future. This opinion may come across quite strong and explosive, but I'm obliged to consider my own opinions bearing in mind I'm exposed to at least 200 ads a day, therefore picking a brand which I appreciate the most due to the fact that they have created a campaign which communicates their message in a way which is humorous but seems effortless. Two main factors which I think advertisers need to consider when creating a strategy behind a brief.

This blog is like my online diary because it allows me to express myself and the things that I have been feeling for the last few months and possibly years, but I still feel like there are boundaries regarding events and opinions that I can't mention due to my obligation of my current position. It's a Saturday night and I'm sitting on this IBM laptop thinking about all the possibilities that are out there and the ways in which we can all make things different. The ways in which we can impose our own opinions and perceptions of things to hopefully appeal communicate  brand you may be working to reach out to others. I hope I don't sound like the boring old fart to be writing this on a Saturday night, however this diary is about expressing myself at anytime of the day whether its 2am in the morning or 10pm.
