North Carolina-based producer Rell has dropped his first moombahton release, entitled “Rio Abajo (Bad Man),” inspired by pioneers of the genre—Munchi, Kid Cedek, JWLS, Nadastrom, Heartbreak, Datsik, and Diplo.

The track, which features some Brazilian Funk vocal samples, is named after a West Indian neighborhood in Panama City, where Rell spent part of his youth.

Originally starting out in the hip-hop scene, Rell has worked with Far East Movement, Lloyd Banks, Jim Jones, Flo Rida, Spider Loc and more. In 2011, he decided to completely shift to electro music after experiencing live shows from Skrillex and Bassnectar.

As a member of the The Beatnox, Rell is producing electro-house/dubstep releases and now experimenting with moombah! We hope “Rio Abajo (Bad Man)” is a sign of a full EP coming soon, enjoy it below.
