"Knock, knock."
winter-soldat:
Bucky gave him an unconvinced look. “Charming, aren’t you?”
“Most people think so.”

The empty room’s temperature seemed to drop with Tony’s every word as he confirmed what Wanda knew what was true for months, but didn’t have the courage to face. Not yet. Her body froze in the chair she’d sat in and her eyes glazed over as he talked. “Yes, I understand.” Wanda replied, hoarsely. For some reason, a tiny part of her truly believed that he could be brought back, but Wanda could feel it the day he died: Vision was never coming back. “Thank you and I apologize for bringing up such a morbid subject.” Her words were mechanical and automated
Tony’s crestfallen as soon as he sees the way she shuts down. He sighs and comes to sit on the arm of the chair she’s sunken into, reaching over. He hesitates for a moment before deciding to just make the leap, letting his hand come to rest comfortably on her back. “Don’t apologize. I don’t blame you for wondering... I’m sorry, Wanda... and I’m sorry you had to be there to see it.” He remembers watching Pepper fall down into the fiery bellows of the barge, closing his eyes for a moment. Even though in the end he hadn’t lost her, for those moments he thought he had. He wouldn’t wish it on anyone. “I wish we could’ve done something to save him too.”

Wanda waited until Natasha was out of earshot before she continued. “I was wondering…” Gods, how did she start this conversation? “You created Vision from downloading some sort of computer into synthetic body, yes?” She floundered again, wondering how insane she must sound asking her next question. “What….is there….could you possibly do it…again?”
Tony’s confusion quickly turns to sympathy. He was wondering if Wanda would ever think to ask him this at some point. “Let’s have a seat,” he offers, leading her to a more private conference room so no other distractions might come along. “Well… Short answer would unfortunately be no. The thing about Vision is that he started to create himself. He came from JARVIS, who even though I miss him every day, I could never recreate to be the AI he was to me. The other pieces of him came from the body Ultron created, and the Mind Stone. If you’re asking if I can create an AI, and put it in a synthetic form, then yes. But to create something actually living… that could develop a personality and be self-sufficient… I’m not trying to play god.”
"Knock, knock."
winter-soldat:
Bucky frowned. Had that been a joke? “Well, you don’t exactly like me.”
“I don’t know how that could be what with that accommodating personality of yours,” he replied sarcastically, but it’s friendly. “‘Sides, you’re pretty much family now so there’s no reason we can’t try and do more than just tolerate each other.”
"Knock, knock."
winter-soldat:
He’d mentioned Steve his metal thumb had felt weird for a second before working just fine again. Better than fine, compared to his old metal arm, but of course Steve had misunderstood it and that, somehow, led to Tony Stark asking him for entrance.
Bucky opened the door and looked outside, trying to spot some threats just out of habit. “Why are you really here?”
Tony frowns, noticing how antsy the man seems. “What’s with all the suspicion, Barnes? I’m just trying to give you a hand.”
@thebleedingedge
He’d be on the base for a little while, just checking over some armor…Wanda knew she couldn’t let the moment pass by. A flash of a fine made Italian suit as it turned a corner and Wanda forced herself to follow it. “Mr. Stark? Tony?” His first name sounded so foreign in her mouth. “Can I ask you a question? Privately?” Natasha raised an eyebrow, but left Tony and Wanda to their conversation.
Tony was surprised to hear Wanda’s voice, halting his conversation with Natasha over their latest meeting with the non-local teams. He mirrors Natasha’s expression but nods to her, letting her continue down the hallway. “Wanda,” he clears his throat. “Sure. What’s going on?”
"Knock, knock."
Tony braces his hand against the doorway as it swings open, other hand dangling at his side with a toolbox. “You know, you could’ve told me your arm was acting up.”
Bucky blinked, confused. Why was Tony Stark at Steve’s apartment? “My arm isn’t acting up.”
"Cut the bullshit, Steve told me about it. The Wakandans are a little harder to get to, so I guess you're stuck with me." He lifts the toolbox. "Can I come in?"

Tony scoffs and musses Peter’s hair a bit. “Yeah, you sure do sound ready. How about school? You ready to go back?”
“I think so. My girlfriend-” and it was still weird to think of Michelle as his girlfriend, but weird in the best possible sense “-already knows I’m Spider-Man, so that’s gonna make things easier… Right?”
“I can safely say that Pepper knowing, even before she was my girlfriend, made things way easier on me… Also, congrats on making things with MJ official. Took you long enough.”
He gaped. And closed his mouth. “I’m guessing Happy told you the whole story?”
"He told me enough."
"Knock, knock."

Hey, wake up...
widowbitesback:
I think I need to teach him how to throw a proper punch before he breaks his thumb…
Lucky for you he’s a quick learner.
Hey, wake up...
thebleedingedge:
“We can’t all be language experts.”
Yeehaw…
Speaking of the kid…I thought I could start working with him. Helping him with some fighting skills. He can’t duck and dodge forever…
You know that’s... actually not a bad idea. He’s not too bad on offense, but most of the time he’s letting his instincts carry him. Not necessarily a bad thing, but I think even he forgets he can really pack a punch when he tries...
your-friendly-neighbour:
“What? No. Noooo. I mean, May… if she feels ready, she’s ready, right?” And they barely mentioned uncle Ben anyway. There was always something going on.
“She’s ready, but are you?”
“Yeeeep. Definitely ready. The readiest. Bring it on. Him. Whatever.”
Tony scoffs and musses Peter’s hair a bit. “Yeah, you sure do sound ready. How about school? You ready to go back?”
Hey, wake up...
widowbitesback:
And you say you don’t understand Peter when he talks…

“She’s ready, but are you?”
Hey, wake up...
widowbitesback:
“Some days you’re a fogey old man, other days you’re designing widow bites. What’s the truth?”
“Why can’t I have both?”
your-friendly-neighbour:
He shrugged it off (or at least tried to). “Couple of years.” Right after he got his powers, but there was no need to mention that.
He patted Peter on the back in a way he hoped was comforting. “Well... That might feel like a long time for your aunt. Just because she’s maybe dating again doesn’t mean your uncle never existed. Does it bother you that much?”
