Background
So I work at a homebased “Call Center”. We answer for the majority of clinics, doctors, home healths, an apartment agency and even a towing service for our city. I’ve had this job for a little more than 5 years. Let me tell you, have I really got some stories and regulars. Ask any operator really, we all do. haha. Ever since the pandemic, the calls have been many more and do they come with steaming hot tea. I usually rant on twitter but I mean you need the whole gist of the story to really understand why I get so fed up with people. Don’t get me wrong, I like my job. Homebased, no uniform, on social media all day. Yas bb, I really can’t complain. BUT man do some people make my job and their situation way more difficult than it should be.
Here for your entertainment and my venting.
Porque no hablo el doctor!?
Friday (Most of this call was in Spanish but I’ll be typing most of it in English) TDRL at the end Alright so my intro, “Answering Service this is OP. How can I help you?” “Con el ofecina del doctor!” “Okay. Que le pasa?” “My son has been waiting for the doctor to call him since the morning!” I tired getting a word in but there is no interrupting a Mexican momma. “SI! We’ve been waiting and waiting since the morning! The doctor was supposed to call him for the results! He came out positive and the doctor didn’t even call him!” Me, still unable to get a word in, ‘tf? how do you even know that if the doctor hasn’t call-’ “Nomas la secretary called and said he was positive in the morning and said they prescribed him 3 meds!” Ah. There it is. ‘so what is even the problem again?’ “SO PORQUE NO ESTAN!? The doctor never called him! He should’ve given him more than 3 medications for COVID! Que mal!”
Ya’ll I’m still here quiet af cause it wouldn’t be professional of me to call her out on this nonsense. -_- So: “Oh okay well the office is closed and unfortunately I don’t have a way to contact the office (cause they closed and they smart enough to not give us a damn life line for these upptiy patients.) You would need to call them back Monday or wait for their callback.” TDRL This momma mad cause her grown ass son came out positive and was given 3 meds for it and was told all of this by a nurse and NOT the doctor.
“I’ll just file a claim with my insurance.”
Friday 4:50pm TDRL at the end.
LMAO okay so I start with my intro “Answering Service this is OP. How can I help you?” right and:
“I’ve been waiting for the doctor’s call sine 1pm.” “Oh well the office is cl-” “Actually I missed the call HEHE and I called not 2 minutes later and they answered and they said they’d get back to me so I’ve been waiting since 2:45pm” HA okay. So she comes in lying then switches shit up and as soon as I’m about to say they closed. I mean I still told her anyways and: “Okay so let me ask you this. The nurses are supposed to call one by one and charge patients. They didn’t charge me. I’ve BEEN waiting. I missed the call but really it’s their fault so am I going to be charged cause I missed the appointment call???” “I’m honestly not sure how that office handles situations like that. For more information about it you could wait for their callback or call Monday.” “CAUSE I WAITED AND MISSED IT AND THEY SHOULDN’T HAVE TO TO CHARGE ME. They didn’t but you know what!? I’m going to file a claim with my insurance.” Guys. I swear lol. 1. B, I don’t care. 2. They haven’t even charged you so tf? 3. It’s your fault and they have proof with their call logs. “Okay ma’am. You can do it that if you’d like. I’m sure they’ll call-” “YEAH I’m gonna do that. I’ll make a claim! With the, um, the in- my insurance!” “Okay ma’am... The office itself will be open Monday and they will take their own calls by 9am. Goodbye.” TDRL: Lady wants to file an insurance claim for an appointment SHE missed and has NOT been charged for.
