Anyways the way Tumblr treats the Perks Of Being A Wallflower like it’s cringe and bad just because of the hipster craze over it in 2012 and ignoring the fact that it’s one of the few books/movies that shows the ugly side of teen mental illness and discusses sexual trauma in young boys (something only portrayed in shows like SVU) is in fact, bullshit, and I’ll never forgive y'all for taking the line “we accept the love we think we deserve” (a reference to toxic abusive relationships) and turning it into cringe culture. This is a book about a struggling depressed kid who I saw myself in as a teen, and yeah he and his friends could be annoying and pretentious but are you going to say you weren’t as a kid?
i hate when i make body-hair positivity posts and people (almost always white) comment with stuff like “yes fuzz is so cute!” like no….i’m not here for my girls with just fuzz i’m here for girls who have thick dark coarse hair all over their bodies, girls who have eyebrows thicker than their dad’s, girls whose eyebrows blend in with their hairlines, girls with mustaches, girls with thick sideburns, girls who have hairy arms, legs, toes, fingers, and hands, girls with nipple hair, girls who can’t tell where their tummy hair ends and their happy trail begins, girls with back hair, girls with unibrows. hair doesn’t have to be peach fuzz on a white body for it to still be cute.
I’ve seen a lot of the “straight girl and gay guy” power duo, but i want more variations. Where’s the “straight guy and lesbian” pair? The “all and none (pan and ace)” friends? The bisexuals, nonbinaries and all other queer representation?
If someone made any one of these, I would literally watch the shit out of them.
hey! i’m currently writing a graphic novel plot for an artist, and wanted to center the story around the character dealing with self doubt. i have gone through that before, so that’s alright for me to write on. however, at a later point in the story, i show the character going through states of depression. i think i could write it, but i’ve never done this before and my own experiences with depression is not as much as the previous issues... so if any writers or kind souls out there are willing to help me understand how to write about that, it would be great! thanks for all the help in advance!
Once upon a time, there was a happily married couple, where one was a princess and the other a normal civilian. They met by chance and married by choice, knowing that it was love at first sight. But love never lasts, especially first loves, something they would discover sooner than they hoped.
Belle mostly wandered around the palace, drinking home-brewed tea and reading books, a hobby she kept from her past, common life. She wanted to help Eve run the kingdom, but Eve always told her to “Stay put. I got this.”
As days turned to months and then to years, the kingdom fell into great devastation and Eve’s temper kept losing its sweetness. She tried her best to keep it up, but nothing would work. It was as if a curse had befallen the kingdom. Belle tried to help but Eve kept turning her away, increasing the already vast distance between them.
Belle was getting increasingly wary of Eve’s behavior as Eve started taking out her anger for the politics at that time on Belle. Belle was scared that Eve would hurt her, but Eve knew when to stop. She may have had a drastic change in attitude, but she was still Belle’s wife. But Belle remained cautious and ready to leave if things turned bad.
The very feeling of being suspicious of Eve’s intentions left guilt smeared all over her sensitive mind. She loved her, but why was she scared of her? Every day, living in fear that that would be the day she would do something that will erase all her love for her in one strike, one hit or one lunge.
It was dinnertime. Belle had gone down to the kitchen herself to make something for Eve, to butter her up in a way, so she would start talking to her again. She wanted what was best for Eve and knew that she needed a break from the rage of the civilians and the internal misogyny in the leadership, all saying “of course she can’t run the country, she’s just a girl”.
“So, how was your day?” Eve asked.
“Oh, you know, the usual. I read the new book you gave me a few days ago! It’s got an interesting plot, but the details are pretty cliché... But that’s fine, everybody likes a good cliché now and then!” Belle was nervous. She didn’t want to say anything wrong and ruin the stability in Eve’s mood at that moment.
Eve didn’t react, so Belle tried pushing the conversation to her actual point. “So... things have been pretty stressful lately. I could lend a hand, you know?”
At this, Eve drew in a long sigh. “Belle, how many more times do I need to tell you, I don’t need your help? I’m fine, really, I am.”
Belle knew that this was the point she was supposed to accept it and stay quiet. But what is a real relationship if she is not even confident enough to open up to her partner? Before she could contemplate further, she spits it out. “Come on, Eve. You always say that. Just give me a chance, I’ll show you.”
Eve looked up from her plate. She said, gruff, “I will not repeat myself, Belle.”
“I’m not asking you to. I will repeat for you, though. Just let me have a shot at it,” Belle pushed on.
Eve stood up abruptly, striking all the things on the table off, silent in fury. The silence that followed made Belle’s ears ring as she sat there, horrified.
“You’re not Eve. At least, not the one I knew.”
Eve didn’t seem to realize just what she did. “Well, this is me now. Leave if you can’t accept it.”
Belle tried fighting back, telling her that she isn’t like that, trying to convince her that she is just under too much pressure. “You’re the sweetest, the nicest and the most beautiful person I’ve ever met, Eve. Don’t do this.”
But Eve was not having any of it. Her sole focus on the kingdom had turned her into a soulless, cold monster, and even Belle, the one she used to love, couldn’t get her to change. There was a curse in the air, for sure. No one knew from where or for what, but it was cruel, evil magic.
Belle couldn’t keep her tears from tracing down her cheeks as she left, her things on her back. She kept walking but didn’t know where she was going. Along the way, by chance, she found a horse, roaming the wild. It used to be someone’s because there were a saddle and reigns on the horse. The horse calmed down in the presence of another living creature, and Belle got onto it. The horse let her. “Take me wherever, just away from this wretched castle,” she whispered into the horse’s ears because with the tears pouring from her eyes, it was hard to do more than a whisper. And off the creature went, an obvious link immediately forming between them.
After almost hours of riding through the wilds of the unforgiving forests, they finally reached civilization. It was a quaint little town, not as progressive, but nice and quiet nonetheless. Belle loved it immediately.
The people were welcoming. They saw the beautiful maiden that came out of the darkest woods, and all the men immediately wanted her under their roofs, to comfort her and care for her. Little did they know that this gorgeous, fluttering maiden didn’t exactly fall for men.
The only thing other than clothes that Belle had with her were her books. She even started writing one, a book that somehow reflected her life. Over the days that she lived in the town, she would read to the children there and continue working on the book. She had met an old man whose handiwork was a joke to the town, but a profession of interest for Belle. Seeing their mutual interest in the odds, the old man took on a parental role for Belle and treated her like his own daughter.
It took her about a year and a quarter to finish writing the book she was working on. The next time she read to the children, she took her own book with her. Now, she had already told the children about the book, that she was going to read it to them that day. This resulted in a huge turnout as if it was an official reading of a book by a famous author. All the kids in town were there, along with some of their disapproving parents. These parents thought this reading session she had every day was a waste of time and distracting for the children, so they were curious as to what really drew their children in so much. They chose this day since all the kids were talking about it, in school, in the playground, at the dinner table... they were excited, to say the least.
Belle sat at the edge of the fountain at the center of the town and took in the crowd of townsfolk, children and adults alike. She wasn’t sure whether she was ready to share this story with the world, but she didn’t want to disappoint. She took in a deep breath and started.
It only took a few sentences for the people to completely fall in love with the story. The intricate meaning of love woven in each and every word and the delivery of the story was so spellbinding, that even the children stopped jumping around and sat down to listen. It was a story of blind love, a love so strong in Belle’s heart that it was only her, and her only, that could make such a simple tale seem like an epic poem tugging on everyone’s heartstrings. It was a story of the Beauty and the Beast, where the blind love that they had for each other was what made the beast human again, capable of love, capable of caring.
No one knew that the emotion in Belle’s voice was of extreme sorrow, not of love and happiness, that she never got the fairytale ending she had written down for herself, but quite the opposite. But she was finally at ease, even if unhappy, that she found a community that somehow accepted her and lent her a place. And that was enough for then...
Y’all, is it possible to fall in love with someone without actually meeting them?
So there’s this girl, she’s gonna be a new student in my school next year; but the teachers wanted her inducted, so they got me and my friend to kinda chat with her over the summer so she has friends when she gets here. The thing is, I’m in love with her.
The smallest jokes, the lightest compliments, everything about her. Maybe it isn’t love, maybe it’s just my hormones going crazy. But it’s something.
I’ve actually been stalking her online for a while (lol, I’m not a creep don’t worry) and she’s beaUTIFUL! LIKE, THIS MAKES IT HARDER?!?! TO GET OVER SOMEONE YOUVE NEVER MET?!?!
And the thing is, my friend (the one that’s buddying up with her with me) likes her twin brother and, well, she’s gonna befriend her to get to the brother lol. She’s in her class, so it’s convenient. As for me? I’m crying that I can’t do anything about it, and that I’m not brave enough to.
so, i have been having the weirdest, most violent mood swings ever. one moment, i get very angry and either knock stuff down or scream internally or umm... do other stuff, but the very next moment, someone comes in and makes a joke and i start laughing hysterically, and the thing is, it’s genuine. it’s not like i’m faking being happy, i literally just shift moods very fast...
i know it probably means nothing (just my teenage hormones maybe, lol) but idk, i just would really appreciate advice, i guess... on how to deal with these mood swings.
