💥 DEEP THOUGHT ABOUT ART 💥
Today I was scrolling through TikTok like usual, when I came across a video where someone wrote:
“I just don’t understand why beginner artists don’t watch tutorials.”
Now, even if that sentence seems reasonable at first glance, the tone behind it felt toxic —
Like there’s a “right way” and a “wrong way” to express yourself through art.
Like you’re lazy if you don’t sit through 59 minutes of someone explaining how to draw.
Like if you draw “badly”, you’re just wasting your time.
This mindset not only completely empties art of its real meaning, but turns it into a technical race — a competition to see who’s “the best.”
🖌️ I’m not saying tutorials are useless — they can be super helpful!
But they’re useful only when you feel ready, or want to grow, or explore new things.
They should never be forced on everyone.
Some people love to take their time with art.
To learn by observing, making mistakes, trying again.
And you know what? That’s not a waste of time. Not at all.
🎨 In fact, many of the people who take “longer” to grow artistically, are also the ones who really enjoy their art the most.
Because yes — even the one creating the art should feel proud of it, not just the viewer.
Too often we forget that it’s not the end result that makes us artists, but the journey we go through.
The doubts, the trials, the frustration, the small victories, the wobbly lines that somehow make us fall in love.
To me, art doesn’t need to be perfect.
It doesn’t even need to be simple.
It just needs to be spontaneous — even with its 2,000 flaws.
Because if it manages to communicate something, or make someone feel what the artist felt in that moment…
Then it’s already done everything it needed to do.
And to me… that is art<34
