My beautiful, grumpy boy McQuay had to leave us this morning. His entire body was shutting down due to all of the stones inside his kidneys and bladder. I knew it was going to happen soon, but he fell sick so fast. I held him all night, all the way to the vet’s office, so he knew he was safe. McQuay had my heart from the moment I saw him — even though he bit me! I fell completely in love with this neurotic, shy, and VERY loud dog. His bark could be heard across the neighborhood, but every night for almost 14 years, he slept in my arms or on my pillow. McQuay was an old man from puppydom, but we all loved his personality. He was a great chewer of toys, he was a willing sport on all the hikes I dragged him on, and he judged all of the silly things I did to amuse him. When you blew on his face, he would rub his paws against his ears, look angry, and then kiss your face. He like to hide under the bed so much, I put a dog pillow there to make it more comfy. McQuay had lots of friends despite his gruff exterior. He shared his favorite chair with @whatsryandoing, he liked to be held by @therewillbedumplings on all of our day trips to the countryside, and he enjoyed sitting quietly on the couch with @jareha. We’re not supposed to have favorites with our animals, but McQuay is my heart dog, my forever snuggle buddy, my big poop monster. I’m so grateful for our long time together. He’s in heaven with Alamo — where I’m sure Mo is back to bossing him around again. (at Los Angeles, California) https://www.instagram.com/p/ClWnczwPJHL/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
