Cair Paravel was located at the mouth of the Great River and on the coast of the Eastern Ocean, she remembers the palace as golden and the four thrones that the Pevensies stayed in the big salon.
She never met the girl Aravis Tarkheena, but she knows that she was from the noble of Calormen. Calormen was located in the south of the Great Desert and the capital was Tashbaan, her father, Kidrash Tarkhaan, knows her father because people in nobility tend to get to know each other. Shasta was telling her that her father wants her to marry Ahosta and Aravis seems to despise him, Shasta was right, maybe they are in similar situations.
โThis is Aravis, Aravis this is Isolde.โ Shasta introduced them.
โHi, Isolde.โ Aravis saluted Isolde and she smiled back, she seemed like a sympathetic girl. โYou know that Queen Susan rejects Prince Rabadash?โ
โHi and no i don't know about this.โ
Queen Susan rejects Prince Rabadash and Edmund wants to marry someone, she made clear to her that she was the only girl in her family and she was the Princess of Archenland. Why does man have to be so difficult to deal with? She thinks she heard that Queen Susan used to be a smart woman. There's nothing wrong with a woman that wants to be alone or just independent. Susan is a bit older than her and also Aravis but Edmund seems to want this, she knows about his story but Narnia is at peace and the Long Winter has gone, she grew up in that cold and horrible winter caused by the White Witch.
She knows about the history of Queen Helena and King Frank, who ruled in the Age of Conquest. She moved on with that man to London, she doesnโt know what London is. It 'sa reign? She never heard about it, the Pevensies were humans that came into Narnia.
But really Edmund, you were the first girl you saw to be an only child. Well he's a boy and boys do those things, heโs brother Peter seems more wise and responsible thereโs Lucy but she is still young she has her good friend Mr Tumnus, she knows his story and that he found Lucy in Narnia. The Pevensies defeated the White Witch and Narnia is at peace, Edmund he made peace with his brotherโs after that Christmas and Turkish delights
โIs what we expect from Queen Susan, she is smart and she has that trumpet and the bow and arrow. She is an example of a good Queen.โ Aravis tells about Queen Susan.
โI heard about Susan and that sheโs a good Queen but she was never a princess.โ she pointed this.
โItโs why she saved Narnia with her brothers and Lucy and Aslanโs crowned them as the Queens and Kings of Narnia. They are continuing the legacy of Helena and Frank, the firsts monarchs of Narnia.โ
โI was never a prince or a king.โ Shasta said. โI was created by a fisherman, iโm like the bastard son.โ
The Pevensies are never prince or princess, they are the humans who saved Narnia. Everyone in Narnia respects them, they are close to Christmas and it was a beautiful holiday. The famous Father Christmas gave to the Pevensies: to Lucy her cordial, to Peter his sword and Susan her trumpet. Edmund did something bad and thatโs why he won nothing from Father Christmas.
Queen Helena and King Frank are examples of members of nobility, every member of nobility on those days fell for their example to rule. All their children, their son was a boy named Col and before her father he was the King of Archenland and Prince of Narnia. People know about these things for a reason, histories about these are told for years from people to people. She heard about it in her classes, all good princesses had to know about Narnia history.
Christmas is her favorite holiday, all the magic behind it and the gifts. Everyone seems happy during this holiday and nothing bad has happened since the Pevensies were crowned Queenโs and Kings. She used to spend the holiday with her family in Archenland and once Father Christmas himself gave to her a black quill pen and he said that she will be a great High Queen someday. She should write histories about Narnia and those things will not be forgotten.
โSusan rejected Prince Rabadash, why can't i be like Susan?โ Isolde asks.
โYou donโt know King Edmund, but Ahosta is the most negligible man that i know. Not all the men are terrible, Edmund is just a boy and he was a kid when he did nonsense." Aravis responds to Isolde and tells about a man that she despises.
โAhosta is so negligible like this?โ
โI was in an arranged marriage, those things are bad. I runway with your new brother, either you or Edmund are being forced to do these. He just wants to meet you.โ
โBut if he was negligible?โ she asks genuinely.
โYou canโt talk about Edmund like this or his brothers, Queen Helena wouldn't like. You should be a responsible woman when you're 18.โ Shasta said, reprimanding her.
โQueen Helena will be happy if she has descendants of all her daughters and sons. Saying things like this are prohibited in Cair Paravel.โ this time it was Aravis again.
โBut he's literally going after the first girl he saw who was the only girl in her family.โ
She continued protesting their meeting; they finally were in Cair Paravel. The beautiful palace where Aslan crowned the Pevensies Kings and Queens of Cair Paravel, Edmund was 14 or something and Lucy was the youngest one she had her friend Mr Tumnus, a faun and Lucy doesn't seem interested in those things right now.
โHello, iโm Mr Tumnus and welcome to Cair Paravel. Who are you?โ said the faun, he seems a sweet magical creature that hurts none.
โIโm Shasta, those are Aravis and Isolde. Isolde wants to talk with King Edmund; they have some issues.โ Shasta explains to the faun.
โYouโre welcome. Edmund is in the castle, you will find him.โ
โThank you.โ
Isolde entered the big golden castle, where Queen Helena and King Frank ruled once and in a time when she wasnโt even born. The time in Narnia is different and the Pevensies are humans here, she was a Princess of Archenland and Edmund was the Just. She observed the big palace, flags with the symbol of Aslan, and she remembered the lion.
โHello, youโre Isolde?โ a female voice said. โIโm Lucy Pevensie, the Valiant.โ
โHey Lucy, yes iโm Isolde the Princess of Archenland.โ
โI think that you wanted to talk with Edmund, my brother, heโs at the other side of the castle.โ
โOkay, thanks Lu. Can i call you like this?โ
โYes, of course.โ
Isolde walks through the castle and on the other side like Lu said she saw a black hair boy that she presumes be King Edmund, the Just.
โHello.โ she said, in a shy way. โKing Edmund?โ
โNo, iโm a faun.โ he said ironically and she rolled her eyes.
โAre you serious? You just come with a talk like this and think that i will fall for you instantly.โ
โOkay, iโm King Edmund and you are Princess Isolde of Archenland?โ
โYes, iโm Isolde. Iโm young for this.โ
โFor High Queen works? Iโm just empowering you here, i think you understand the letter a bit differently but you are young. You think that i want to marry?โ
โI donโt know.โ
Isolde was thinking about Edmund and his intentions with her, his a bit older than her but not that much. He said that heโs empowering her in Narnia and just it and he seems like a nice person, Aravis said that he wants a relationship and just met her, not all men are like this and like the history of Ahosta, a man that we donโt talk about.
โSee youโre young you donโt know, i am empowering you to not depend on a man.โ
Okay, he maybe isnโt that bad and heโs right she went to Cair Paravel without any rules or obligations, maybe Edmund knows how to respect a woman.
โThis is a letter to Susan.โ she said and she handed him a piece of paper.
โI will hand it to her when she comes back.โ
โThank you.โ
โI wish to talk more with you another time, Isolde.โ he says.
โMaybe in another time or life, Narnia is a mystery.โ she said and smiled at him and he smiled back.
