“Transgender Symbol - An amalgamation of the traditional male and female symbols. The ‘arrow’ on the upper right represents male-identified people, the ‘plus’ on the bottom represents female-identified people, and the combination of both on the upper-left represents gender-variant identified people.”

I wanted to add my own twist to it, so I integrated the peace symbol. What do you think?

Folks on Film: Sister Roma

This is Sister Roma. Sister Roma is a drag queen from San Francisco who is at the forefront of equality. Sister Roma is currently spearheading initiatives against Facebook’s “real-name” policy. This policy is discriminatory towards trans* individuals, Native Americans and others who might have a reason to adopt an online pseudonym. I ran into her while she was interviewing people on the street for one of her current projects. When I asked if I could take a photo of her, she was beyond cordial and only asked if she could interview me in return.
