At the end of summer, we like to make homemade pesto to use up our basil in the garden. We freeze the pesto in our Chillz Blox large ice cube trays and once frozen, we put the cubes in ziplock baggies. When we need a cube, we grab one and put it in rice, pasta, on pizza crust instead of sauce, on crostini toast, in soup.... lots of recipes! Check out the recipe below and freeze up your own!

Simple Basil Pesto (makes 13 cups) 6 cups fresh, packed basil leaves 1 cup pine nuts 9 minced garlic cloves 1 1/2 cups extra virgin olive oil 1 1/2 cups freshly grated Parmesan Salt & Pepper, to taste

Pulse the basil and pine nuts a few times in a food processor. Add garlic, pulse a few more times. Slowly add in the olive oil in a steady stream while processor is on. Add cheese and pulse a few times until blended. Add salt and pepper.
