Entry 1: Musique sous une lune argentée
Well, I guess I should start this off with a bit of explanation. Before the pandemic, I auditioned for a 10-Minute Play Festival in my community, and I got the role of a 12-year-old boy named Danny. At the end of my 10 minute show, he looks up at the moon and asks his grandfather when a moon looks purely silver. The grandfather replies: “When you’re in love it does, Danny.”
That stuck with me, knowing that I had never actually seen a silvery moon. After I auditioned, I met a girl at my school who I was head over heels in love with. She was pretty, she was very nice, but she told me she already liked someone else when I confessed my love. For some reason, the news didn’t affect me. Like, at ALL. And then I realized: It wasn’t true love.
It was the fact that I was alone. I was desperate. And I didn’t know it at the time, but the desperation of love is really unhealthy. And I was alone, for quite some time. The pandemic hit, and I was a lonely kid who practically lived in her basement alone. I was making music for an audience of none. I wanted to try something new. I downloaded TikTok. And that was the greatest decision of my life.
I was addicted practically. I would always browse my FYP, looking for something cool or something really funny. But then I found an account under the name of “Donk the Puppet”. The account was relatively humorous and really creative, so I followed them. But then I was instantly recommended all of these puppeteers. And I became good friends with a lot of them! I decided to make a discord group in which we could all talk about stuff and hang out.
And then I met my best friend.
I see a cute little blue puppet on my FYP, and I thought the girl who was running the account would love to be in our friend group. Her name is Olivia. I instantly started talking with her, and we became really good friends. We would talk all the time, and we would laugh and play games with each other.
It was early in the morning. I was alone. I was confused. And in the midst of that confusion, I looked out my window. The stars were bright. The streetlights were buzzing. The moon was silver.
Thank you for making my moon silver.
