Godsent: Chapter 2

Yae Miko x Bird-Hybrid!Fem!Reader

Note: This chapter is another short build-up because I don’t know how to write properly. The smut will be in the next chapter! I promise!

You found yourself a bright sunny spot at the edge of the shrine, amidst the grasses that have been well taken care of. You curled yourself into a comfortable position, like a feather ball. Spread your large wings and wrap them around until they cover you up from head to toe. The air of the mountain is cold, so the warm ray of the sun soothes you.

One month after the stormy night, you had already accustomed yourself with shrine duties. But even so, you occasionally spent your time slacking off and playing around with the kitsunes or just dozing off on the field. Today is just another of those days.

“Y/N! Slacking off again?” A somewhat sharp voice of a certain shrine maiden called the name the Guuji gave you, there it is, your relaxation time is over.

You get up from your comfortable position, seeing the face that called for you (although you already knew who she was right when you heard the voice). It’s your caretaker the Guuji assigned, Kano Nana.

“The leaves on the lawn still haven't even been touched and it’s your duty today.”

Kano said with a palm on her face, trying to remain as calm as possible. The sight gave you a little io chuckle, but enough teasing for today, you followed her back to do your duties at the shrine.

“Oh and also, the Guuji would like you to meet her tonight in her chamber.”

“Eh?”

You looked back at your caretaker with confusion, throughout the months you’ve talked with the Guuji various times but those were just little simple conversations. She has never called for you like this.

With the broom on both of your hands, you silently swept the leaves and petals on the stone lawn, thinking about various things.

The reason why you stayed in the shrine in the first place, The Guuji’s promise.. does she still even remember that? Or was it merely her way to get herself a new staff? Questions after questions still unanswered, you’ll definitely pay her a visit tonight.

Woe of a Maiden (Kano Nana’s POV):

I’m freaking out.

Last month the Guuji brought another girl to the shrine and assigned me to take care of her. I thought it was going to be fine since she looks like a beautiful timid angel, but now I’m feeling like I’m taking care of a second Sayu! An even more energetic one!

The Guuji said that I was the one fitting to babysit the most, which kind of makes sense. But still, I feel like this entire spiel was to tease me! I know she said that I’m her favourite shrine maiden yet, so her teasing me is probably just her being affectionate.

I’m feeling like my throne of being “the Guuji’s favourite shrine maiden” is slowly shaking. I'm totally happy for it to happen though. Archons please just dethrone me already. That Y/N girl definitely got potential for being the Guuji’s new fav though. Guuji even called for her tonight.

All I could say is. I wish her the best of luck for her upcoming troublesome future.

Godsent (Prologue)

Yae Miko x Bird-Hybrid!Fem!Reader

Note: This is merely a prologue for whats to come, smut is in the future!

Thunderstorms do not occur very often in the land of Narukami, tonight is one of the few times. The Guuji stands alone in the middle of the shrine in a place that is safe from the water droplets, taking in the cold breeze of the storm. The air smells of petrichor, and the lightning flashes across the night sky in beautiful colours. This kind of weather could make one forget what the colour of the sun looked like, but the moon is beautiful tonight.

Suddenly, purple flashes of lightning rumbled intensely, the storm grew into a big swirl surrounding itself above the Narukami shrine. The sounds of nature are all around her now. The howling of the wind, the crackling of thunder, the whistling of leaves, the sound of rain pounding down onto the shrine tiles. These sounds all seem to reach a peak of harmony at this moment, and her ears twitch at the symphony of it all.

And then, directly from the eye of the storm itself, Miko felt something falling down from the sky onto the ground of the Shrine with a dull thud, muted by the rainfall around them both. In the light of an accompanying lightning flash, she sees it in the centre of the Shrine, surrounded by the step-stones used to traverse the sandy ground. A bundle of rags, drenched in water, a human, or at least, the size of a human, although it's difficult to tell given its current state. How could they survive that fall? – The Guuji wondered – All she knew was that the humanoid figure appeared to be unscathed from the landing, a feat most peculiar. The figure then attempted to spread its soaked wings from their back before falling back to the ground, pity welling up inside the Shrine Priestess.

The rain pours harshly onto anyone under it, regardless, the Guuji loses the usually prioritised care for her own furs and walks over to the figure in the Shrine centre. The sound of raindrops pattering on the roof tiles drowns out her footsteps, from underneath the rags, two glowing pinkish-red eyes meet Miko's ones. The woman's eyes widened upon seeing Miko approach, and she tried to scramble up onto her feet before falling down again, the rags clinging to their body. The woman is trembling, the wings on her back folding in against her body in what seems to be an attempt at hiding herself. Miko picks up the soaked woman, who's almost weightless in her arms. She then looks closely at the pair of wings on her back, a pair of white feathered wings, attached to the back like it’s a part of her body, the Guuji doesn’t know what the woman is, but she’s definitely not a Yokai or any Tengu. No matter what kind of creature she is, the kitsune already decided to help and protect her tonight. The woman fell asleep trustfully amidst the rattling of leaves.

You woke up to the aromatic smells of scented candles, the essence of Sakura blooms bouquets your breaths. The sound of soft rain comforts your ears. You found yourself in an unfamiliar room – but what do you consider ‘familiar’ in the first place? – you cannot recall. You tried to sit yourself up.

“Oh, it seems you are now awake, little bird~?”

The voice sent jolts all over your body. Your instinct screams out ‘Danger’, like a deadly predator is behind you. Your mind tells you to run, but your body isn't able to. You can feel the origin of that voice approaching closer to you from behind, you gather all your courage, take a deep breath and turn your head to face what awaits.

Pink. — That’s all you could say. From the tip of her hair to the slight flushes on her skin, the accommodating white, red and gold of the luxurious fabrics and accessories she puts on her smooth body. The gorgeous purple eyes that are like staring into the thunder itself. She’s stunning, but you will not let your guard down.

“Who are you? Where am I? What do you want from me?”

Various inquiries shoot from your mouth rapidly, so the pink lady places her finger at your own lips. You felt a bit flustered, but you gently pushed her hand away. She chuckles and backs away.

“Calm down, little bird. Why don’t you introduce yourself first, hm?”

No matter how hard you tried to, you can’t recall Anything about yourself. Your head is all foggy.

“I… I don’t remember… anything..”

“Well then, I am the Guuji Yae Miko of the Grand Narukami Shrine. And I am the one that took you here.”

She stares into your eyes and smiles, you couldn’t tell whether her expression is genuine or fabricated, but at least you felt comforted.

“Why don’t you work for me for a little while then? You will receive shelter, food and other life necessities and I promise I’ll help you with your memories too. Not bad of an offer isn’t it?”

The fox reached her hand in front of you, as if waiting for you to hold it. It’s your choice now to decide whether to not to accept her offer.

Was it worth a shot? Is it safe? Do you have any other choices right now? Thinking and thinking again, you finally made up your mind.

As your hand slowly approaches closer to the Guuji’s, you did not take notice at all that her soft smile grins wider and wider.

The little bird has fallen right into the foxe’s den.
