So, hey there. My name's Cornelius Robinson and I'm a sixth year Ravenclaw. Oh, and I also like...inventing things? Yeah, that sounds about right.

Thanks, [she smiles] it’s a pretty old thing, but stopping and starting whilst you’re in the air is never ideal. [she pauses for a moment] Does it seem fixable?

No, I can imagine that really breaks up the whole pacing. But, I have some good news for you: this is totally fixable. Granting, it’ll take me a couple of days to tinker with it, but your broom’ll be just fine.

Well, that’s what growing up is about: jumping life’s hurdles and finding your own independence. I’m sure you’ll be able to live life how you want soon enough.

“I think I can quickly fix these wonky hinges and grab one of my stronger locks from the back. Trying to keep something safe, I presume?”

Hello, yeah it’s my broom - it’s really acting up right now. [she holds out her nimbus broom]

Oh, that’s not a problem. Brooms are a real no-brainer once you get down to their core. [he takes her broom and begins inspecting it]

Keep Moving Where? II Choice-Para

Cornelius was long and hard working at another one of his inventions in his new make-shift workshop when he felt the wrench in his right hand go awfully warm, almost to hot to the touch, causing him to drop it on his workbench in pain. Rubbing the burn on his hand he felt a presence behind him, but he dared not turn around. Just the thought was terrifying enough. “What, too hot, Corny? Aw, I didn’t mean to scare ya, I just like playing pranks is all.” The voice practically echoed throughout the small space. Naturally, he froze in fear with an unfamiliar person in his midst. “Hey, wanna play a game? Just you and I. It’s called: Pick your future!” The voice announced in a very game-show announcer-esque voice.

The boy twiddled his thumbs and tried to block out of the voice, but it was utterly impossibly. “Don’t think you can ignore me, I’m too much of a fun personality.” Chuckling, she got closer and place a hand on his shoulder and pointed at his workbench, a small model of a time machine of sorts appearing from nothing right before his eyes. Swallowing the lump that was forming in his throat, he nodded. “Good, now listen closely because the rules are very simple and I don’t want to have to explain myself twice: first, touch the time machine. Go ahead, it won’t be permanent, I swear.” Obeying, he pressed an index finger to the small model and then it began, the constant amount of memories coming back at once. It was strange because they switched from life in an orphanage, to life in the future as a child, to life in the future as a father with a family as a famous inventor. Gasping in awe, he turned to face the woman who eerily stood over him. “Yes, your former life can be yours if you so choose, but you’ll forget all about this life you have now and vice versa. Sighing he looked between his wrench and the time machine before gripping his wrench in hand with no fear of it being hot. “I want to make it on my own, not because I jumped into it from a life I couldn’t remember living until now. So, this is my choice. To stay here.” He declared before she smirked and was gone in a flash. The fresh memory wiped in a flash, he shrugged it off and went back to his invention.

“He does and he keeps his motivations so veiled it invites distrust and when you couple that with the sorts of decisions he’s making…well it’s a recipe for disaster.”

“Oh, please. He’s been inviting distrust since the moment he took over as headmaster. The school no longer feels like Hogwarts and it’s eating me up inside.”

“Oh I can imagine,” she said, underlining a poorly phrased statement in her paper, “I’ve been trying since the beginning of the year to get the ministry to allow a full scale investigation of the school but he’s got the bureaucracy wrapped around his finger. He’s…troublesome.”

Cornelius sighed, his chest heaving as he twiddled his thumbs absentmindedly. “Believe me, most everyone up there has been trying to get some actual dirt out on the guy, but he’s a sneaky one, he is. He keeps everything under wraps.”
