Njamm.

Bruce Holwerda’s Daybreak (via his webpage).
I trekked out to the Des Moines Arts Festival last Saturday and took a gander. Holwerda’s work was the show’s standout, as far as I’m concerned. The freedom of the colors’ application, in conjunction with the figure’s pose, is striking, dynamic. The color selection is very earthy but vibrant at the same time.
His other work is equally colorful and chaotic. Many of his paintings incorporate layers of masks as well as miniature low-tech worlds bustling about their day.
Click through to check it out. In the Fast Lane is another favorite of mine.
