Adventures Of Dan and Steph: Antipolo
It’s summer and it’s the season to go out of the house, enjoy the sun, go swimming and travel alot! I personally have planned to travel alot this Summer. To kick things off, Steph and I went on an adventure around Antipolo.
I have been living in the nearby area for about a year now but I haven’t really gone out and explored the mountain. Turns out there are so much stuff to do and so many interesting places to visit!
So before anything else, we needed to get our caffeine fix. Went to Robinsons Antipolo to grab Starbucks. I love Starbucks, say what you will but I have always loved Starbucks and I always will.
Now Steph and I have this thing for walking, we decided to walk from Robinsons Antipolo all the way to the Antipolo Cathedral which is only about two kilometers aways from the mall. Not bad. I love walking especially when going on adventures like this, it gives me a more intimate feeling with the place, it makes me feel like I can say that I’ve really “been there”.
So here’s the Cathedral where alot of people go this Lenten season.
Of course, how can a trip be complete without food? After all that walking, we got hungry and I had read about a place called “My Pot Restaurant” that offers a Filipino buffet for just 125 pesos! So I checked the place out on google maps and from the Cathedral till My Pot, we walked, only to realize that My Pot had relocated. So we took a tricycle from there to the new location. The sun was high and the heat was scorching.
We got to the place and it looks rather simple but man, the food was great for its price. I ate two full plates. The people were really nice and the service was great.
After lunch we went to a place that wasn’t originally on our itinerary but after reading that Hinulugang Taktak Waterfalls had been rehabilitated or is almost fully rehabilitated, we decided to go for it. Thank God for LTE and mobile data!
The view was breathtaking. I can’t wait till they finish the rehabilitation completely, I’m definitely going back here to see it again.
Next stop was Pinto Art Gallery which Steph had told me about in the last week. I was expecting a small art gallery that was probably in a house or something since it was inside a village but when we got there, all I could say was wow.
The place was huge and the landscaping was breathtaking. There are six art galleries, a museum of indigenous art, I think two cafes and a museum shop within the gallery compound. The view and the scenery from here was amazing.
The art is composed of paintings and sculptures by various Filipino artists. So much great stuff up here.
We spent alot of time here appreciating the art and we also grabbed some refreshments in the cafe here. The scenery in the cafe was awesome, it was in the middle of the gallery grounds which was full of plants and great looking sculptures. I saw food on the menu too apart from the drinks. Great place to bring that special someone or to eat, relax and appreciate art with your close friends.
After our time here we headed back to Robinsons to go around for a bit then we headed down to Padi’s Point in Sumulong Highway to sum up this amazing day.
Padi’s Point is famous for having one of the best views of the Manila Skyline. It was the perfect way to end this amazing day. It was wonderful seeing and admiring the view over milkshakes. We also had dinner here and grabbed coffee afterwards. The food is pretty decent, typical bar chow, we ordered sisig which is probably one of our favorite Filipino dishes since we order it all the time.
That about sums up our little adventure in Antipolo. I had alot of fun seeing the forrest, the waterfalls, admiring art, enjoying delicious and not to mention affordable food (there’s plenty of great finds for foodies up here) and seeing the breathtaking scenery and view of the city. It really felt like being on top of the world.
Next time, we’re visiting Mystical Cave up here which we didn’t get to visit since it was already closed by the time we were about to go there.
If you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city and you just want to take a day of to relax without going too far, Antipolo is a great place to go with your friends and family.
