~ Mysteries and Mischief ~
-Nicole from dulanotes
With this final entry, and not without sentiment, I return thee to the elements. You, one of the most notorious and yet fascinating of the sea-swept sentinels in the world; long the friend of the tempest-tossed mariner.
Innsmouth travel poster, by Steve Thomas.
The Shadow over Innsmouth by Howard Phillips Lovecraft
And if the sea has taken him And has not retuned I will go to it
to finding;
hands reaching out towards each other in the depths of the sea, a lone lighthouse standing in the midst of the ocean, waves that roar and grow only taller, the sea spray and the salty breeze kissing your face, odd things washing up onto shore, letters written in cursive and effortless script, beholding the words of a lover.
“She stands wistfully gazing out to sea,
A maiden of times gone by you see,
Her long dark hair blowing in the breeze,
Her long silken robes in death a freeze.
The dark shore beckons her toward the water,
Once she was someones earthbound daughter,
Her beauty cannot be seen in the picture,
But all the same her presence doth capture.
The ghost that haunts the darkened shore,
Beckoning lost sailors yet some more,
Might they see her and try to anchor,
But run aground and into spirit enter?
The darkened cobalt skies and sea,
Ebbing tides and inner loneliness be,
Deep within her soul implanted,
The life that once she had been granted.
Oh lady of the sea now ghostly,
Only the waves can hear your voice mostly,
Splashing up on your greying ghostly robes,
The wetness bathing your unrested soul which probes....
Probes for answers deep within,
Immortality now the price of your earthly sin,
But where will you wander beyond the sea,
Will you take me with you let me see?”

Dedicated to lovers of wistful reflection! / She stands wistfully gazing out to sea, . Published at the web's largest poetry site.
ocean academia in winter
The briny smell of the sea buffeted inland by stormy weather
Flickering candlelight through the glass of a small lantern
Blustery wind that makes your hair tickle your face until you give in and pull it back
Lonely walks on the beach, deserted after the tourists have fled the cold and rain and returned to their homes
Treasures washed ashore- seashells, kelp, sometimes glass
Fumbling the pages of your book because your fingers are numb with cold
oh to live in a small, secretive seaside town
