we are an upcoming real life jcink site based in the fictional county of staves, tennessee. follow us for updates and your chance to win early reserves. to get involved with our members, check out our tracked tag below.
locations: so this is something we have a lot of. our thought going in was to pretty much have everything under the sun so you could make whoever you want. we broke it down into four locations separated by where they are in the county, so that breakdown should help. we intend to have a map to make it easier to see where things are and other points of interest(geographical and such) in the full list when the site opens tomorrow. there are big cities and driveby towns so please reach out to me (#meag) on discord if you have any questions as i wrote these up and am happy to help! below are the four main areas and on the read more has the details of the locations within those areas.
north west staves, densely residential
aesthetics: best kept secrets / morning dew / gravel underneath pickup truck tires / the light across the lake / late night phone calls / long corridors / unsteadiness / watchful eyes / the glow of the moonlight / popped champagne / the sound of glass shattering / closed shutters / foggy roads / fresh cut grass / ripped lace
cypress chapel - busy mess of streets that houses a very old and well known church. the thing looks like something baccio pontelli designed–it’s a real work of art. this town is extremely religious and tight knit. everyone knows everyone, and if you’re not in a pew on sunday morning, someone is going to notice. they’re a bit of a sheltered town in that way, people suspected something of a cult when it came to the church but it was more speculation than anything. it feels a bit ancient when it comes down to it, but no freaky incidents have occurred in cypress since the 1970’s. the image of cypress can seem a bit twisted, while they do a lot of good for the community, with food drives and raising awareness to locals in need by running fundraisers, there’s just always that non stop feeling driving through town that you’re being watched.
elizabeth’s pass - those houses you see on long country roads that appear dropped onto the high up hills out no were? that’s everything in elizabeth’s pass. a long winding highway that barely fits two way traffic leads up to the hilly acres of elizabeth’s pass. there’s not too much history to this part of town, most people have lived here for awhile or built a home to enjoy the mountain backdrop and city views. you can see bright lights from banks if you live in the northern part of elizabeth. it’s quite quaint, if you can look past the rack of shotguns most people keep in their foyer. it’s not the wild west out here, but the lack of street lights keeps most people aware that they’re a long enough call away from the police department. just don’t trespass on people’s property and you’ll be dandy.
glassmanor - you can see these mansions from across the lake–glistening even in the worst weather. all the houses are beautiful, polished and typical looking hollywood hills homes. most have the kind of grand entrance heavy oak doors that hide behind tall white columns which support a pretty balcony overlooking their yards. people with money choose to live here, a lot have grown up here in absolute privilege. it’s a short commute to the city you know, if anyone here still has to even work to get by. then again property taxes here aren’t cheap, so it doesn’t hurt
homewood - there’s a nice charm to homewood. it’s lower middle class living, in a way that while every house looks a bit ransacked, it’s a relatively safe and normal place to live. every year they arrange fireworks for all the special occasions, and you can find most people at the small little docks enjoying a beer or chatting with their neighbors at the end of a busy day. staring out across the water, glassmanor is just barely a sparkle across the lake. homewood is only a little bit trashy but mostly, it’s a comfortable place to live. houses are nestled in trees, long winding driveways that end to meet home sweet home, with probably a couple of flatbed trucks sleeping dead in slightly overgrown yards. it’s not pristine, but it feels safe as most of your neighbors know you and would give your house phone a call if they didn’t see you pull down the road at your usual hour.
north east staves (most heavily populated, job dense)
aesthetics: no vacancy / sporadic bus schedules / coffee menus written in chalk / broken wine bottles / construction ahead / growth
sleepy crest - the old suburbs. when the area was as close to prospering as it’d ever be, people could buy up houses in this prestigious neighborhood and live only a short drive to the city for work. people raised families here, yards were sprawling and green and perfect. of course, now it’s less than modern and homes are entirely outdated you might as well have stepped into another era. a completely strange zoning law has not allowed construction in this area for forty years, so to put it simply, if your house falls apart, you’re pretty much out of luck. most of the the neighborhood has stayed the same(plus forty years of deterioration), and not everyone has left for prettier pastures. it’s tucked away down the road from the airport, cleared from most of the wooded areas. people have acres of flat land before they are met with the only thing staves has to offer in abundance–trees.
ridgecreek - the new suburbs that have sprouted up about three years ago. completely modernized homes and condos that are getting scooped up by new generations for small chump change. only a little stretch of highway from the big city, it’s a great focus for people who want new homes and a short commute. there is little to no uniqueness in the architecture of the homes, but it’s a large gated community with a security booth that makes most people feel safe and sound. it also gloats about having a large swimming pool and state of the art gym. it’s rumored to be built over an burial ground, though we’re pretty sure that was only to scare away potential undesirable buyers to find houses in the other struggling towns around banks. ~5-15 minutes to banks
banks - the city has seen more ups and downs than a mountain road. it has lived and died and lived again. it has struggled a lot to gain its footing, caught the eyes of big corporations hoping to rack in some profit, lost the same eyes and gained them again. it is having a hard time living in the new age of things, slow to adapt. it feels hard to blossom when all around you is overgrown weeds trying to choke out the only air supply that seems hopeful. living is affordable, apartments are spacious for a pretty penny. shopping malls and businesses are taking over every last ‘space available’ sign there is. large chains are setting up in the 'next big american city’, some corporations, some old mom and pop shops, delis here and there, dry cleaning and hipster coffee shops across the road from dunkin donuts. slowly but surely, it is trying to become the next prospering city and do it better than all the places before it. the history is new–this generation new, and that means something to people, building a foundation from scratch with good ideals and an honest community, police force and politicians. it’s scattered with volunteer built parks, a growing public transportation system and good morals. after driving down country roads, most people are surprised this budding city sits here as forbes put it, it is the next big “it” town.
crowne point - a beautiful town that just feels so drunk college because it is just that. not only does it support crowne point college, jam packed with all the wonderful children looking for a brighter future and booze, but there are about four wineries that also let crowne point thrive. it’s neatly laid out, but overpopulated to say the least. plus it’s right next to banks, accommodating the over spill from the city. it is quite honestly, just a perfect place for future students looking to get away without the expense, and without a whole lot of worry. the campus offers plenty of housing as well as jobs for those still needing to make a living while they study their way to success. it is also one of the only places in the county to have a high-end grocery store. no one else around here stocks kombucha anyways.
sapphire estates - a small and tidy town which boasts the largest apartment complex so far at fifty stories. it’s beautiful and the glass windows shine in the sun, but it’s also a completely sore thumb sticking out in the entirety of it. nonetheless, it offers good living to those in the middle class. it’s also the best place to go if you want a view of banks or just for a near rooftop party. for the most part, it’s young people who pay their own bills, maybe a few college kids whose parents have put them up here to attend school at crowne point university. the town itself that surrounds it is nice and quaint, which only makes the building even more pronounced, but no one here is unhappy.
south east staves, (small town and secluded)
aesthetics: small quiet town vibes / that one closed down church that everyone knows not to stop in / thrift hauls / fishing boats at four am / routine / a helping hand / fresh grown / sunlight through the trees
hanley falls - nestled between two pieces of lake york, it’s a tiny little town that sees a lot of traffic due to the natural beauty of its surroundings. it’s not necessarily set up for a large incomes of tourists, but a small little bed and breakfast deals well with the traffic. it’s a gorgeous town and always has been. kind of strange, perfectly pristine, with everything you could ever need right in town. nothing bad has ever happened here and the mayor has made sure of that, as far as anyone is concerned. speaking of the mayor, the position has oddly always stayed within the same family name. some figure a conspiracy theory, others know better and don’t ask questions. it is kind of odd that such a small place is just so well kept and so modern.
pixie peak park - if there was such a thing as a luxurious trailer park, pixie peak park would be it. the place is practically a monument on your way into staves county. it’s bright and neon and just shouting to get noticed. it’s a bit ridiculous to say the least, in a way that your grandma’s apartment is–every piece of furniture is overstuffed, decorations at max capacity as they were purchased for a three pennies at a thrift store, and a cheap perfume smell constantly hangs in the air. hell, the dirt roads are as clean as can be and most of the residents don’t fit the particular trailer park lifestyles. it’s certainly a step down for most people, but it’s a bit of a paradise for others at pixie. most people know each other, are friendly, and help their neighbors. plus, there’s the thrift market that opens on the weekends that people from all around gather to attend. all in all, it’s not bad, only just a little bit territorial.
roxana - your treasure inside the locked up chest. roxana is sprinkled with all sorts of vintage styled diners and hotels, a small town feel to a small little city. it’s nothing like new york–buildings barely reach the tenth floor in roxana, but it’s a small little patch of life that has a fairy tale feel to it. they have monthly carnivals that close down half the city to get them up and running. it’s a very lovey and lazy feeling here, but they’re not trying to be the next banks.
berry creek - the only thing berry creek has going for it is the drive in that opens semi-seasonally. other than that, it’s practically a shit hole with just a pretty little name. anyone from berry always dreams of escaping to the fairy tale land of roxana. the problem is, most families barely made their last payment on their mortgage. a struggling class, for a town that has always been struggling. it’s a step up from trailer park trash, but honestly not by much. the town is small enough that most people know each and help each other out, but eventually you have to think for yourselves. it can feel very split down the middle sometimes, since some parts of town are doing okay while the others have always been struggling. jobs are limited, so there’s always a fight for who gets what. if you’re the one not getting, there is a certain resentment. maybe though, it all gets settled at the monthly trailer trash parties on the car lot. berry creek does know how to throw one hell of a party.
lake york - some people live around the lake, but only people who love near total seclusion and long trips to get groceries and supplies enjoy it. it’s really cut off from the rest of the county, but for some, it’s a nice get away.
south west staves: (crime ridden focus on islandia / least desired place to live)
aesthetics: lots of dark corners and alleyways / flickering street lamps / bars who know every local / getting scammed / enough shanks to supply a state prison with protection / also the only riot gear you'll find in the county / 24 hour gas stations /
islandia - there are some nice areas of islandia. it’s the second largest city in staves county. for the most part, it feels much more rundown and industrial than anywhere else. it’s been around a long time and the wear and tear of the buildings shows. it’s really not a horrible place to live, but for staves county, there are plenty of better places. it has more bars per square mile than anywhere in tennessee, which is saying something. it also is the main police force source, as everywhere else is more littered with dinky police stations and weathered sheriffs. islandia has got a bit of a metal feel to it, rougher than the surrounding country roads. if you have a court date, expect to end up in islandia. it’s not necessarily all low income, but it’s where many industrial and manufacturing jobs are housed. the kind of place where you get your hands dirty, which you can take that meaning as you need.
miamitown - the only saving grace of miamitown is the casino–the rest of the place looks like vision out of waterworld minus kevin costner–or not, he might be in there somewhere, does anyone really know? it’s an explosion of brick buildings in a really bad crop area. it was supposed to be the next up and coming, but it honestly had never been coming from the beginning. it was farmland that had gotten taken over and quite frankly whoever took it over killed the land beyond resurrection. so then they built on it….and then they built some more, and some more, until buildings were mangled over each other like dying corpses and the entire town was practically suffocating under everything. when someone came in and bought the land, they didn’t spruce anything up. maybe slapped some needed paint on the old and threw in a casino. it does as well as a casino can do in tennessee, but at least it’s something to do.
hickory hills - an eyesore after a long stretch of mountain road is probably the last thing you could expect, but there is nothing beautiful about hickory hills. the best thing it has going for it is that it homes an incredible auto body shop that people from all over the country come to visit to get custom everything. if you need something special they got it. if you need something specific, they have it. many think it’s incredible, others think it’s the main source of violence and criminal activities. a happy family runs the place, with all its staff that have more tattoos that a book at the ink shop. maybe it has criminal ties. maybe not. the only thing that many can agree on is nothing good ever comes from hickory and nothing good ever leaves. it’s just trouble.
abrey - the town of abrey is less than fifty people, just a handful of monopoly game sized houses. abrey’s popular rest stop though houses more than that on any given day, given its supersized mart and gas station. it’s a huge part of the people from pike’s lives, as well as islandia civilians. there’s not much else going for it, but it’s the best place for a a quick snack and a six pack for the cheap.
pike - nestled behind bull mountain, this land is uncharted territory. with two entrances into what most people refer to as the back country, it quickly becomes a dead zone. a power lines perks up through the leaves but everything else is a free for all hidden in trees. at one point, it felt like a good idea to build huge houses in a secluded spot, but nature simply took it over entirely. people who live here know the ins and outs because they are deeply embedded in their childhood homes, but you wouldn’t really want to find yourself down the roads here. when making people from this area, note that almost everyone is born from here. nobody moves here anymore, and hasn’t for a very long time.

we're using superstitions as our current member groups and while we've added a few personality traits in case you're unsure, they are really up for interpretation. we feel each superstition gives off it's own “vibe” and we've tried to include enough to cover a broad range of said vibes. everything is totally open to interpretation and to please go with what you're feeling! if you can't pick one, just pick your favorite colors. who cares, live your best life. it's not a big deal to us, we just wanted some fun member groups to go with the vibes of the site.
friday the 13th (#9f333e) reliable / familiar / hesitant
one of the best known superstitions, friday the 13ths are rare enough but also well known. it's thought that bad luck comes upon this day, and yet there is something so normal about the unluckiness of the number 13 that it’s pretty familiar at this point.
blown out candle (#a05022) fun-loving / intense / impulsive
there's nothing quite terrifying about blowing candles out on a birthday cake but home alone with no draft and a scented wick flickering in the darkness while you find some time to relax suddenly going out? there's is something a little goosebump-inducing and terrifying about it. maybe it can be explained, but none the less, it will always feel a little eerie and put you a bit out of place.
it is thought to be a lucky token regardless that holds a certain charm.
walking under ladders (#4a9a80) ambitious / strict / blunt
walking under ladders has always been a token of bad luck, and also deemed naturally unsafe. people in this member group don’t often show much fear in an obviously risky setting. sometimes they are also deemed a little bit of thrill chasers.
while in this day and age, rocking chairs seem like a thing of the past, you might find some comfort in the less modern living room piece. maybe it has some unknown history to it. how is something so eerie and so comforting in a rocking chair is out of sight out of mind. tbh what else can i say about a rocking chair, i consistently imagine a wise person rocking in them smoking a pipe so do with that what you will
whether the battery is broken or there’s some more ill-fitted to the still watch hands, the feeling of being stuck is ever so evident in this group. they can’t seem to get a handle on the world around them, or maybe they just can’t catch a break.
for these people, seven years of bad luck would most likely be the absolute least of their worries. they are quite intricate individuals with layers upon layers of history, personality, sometimes in more of a mess than in a neat stack. they have a hard time adapting and refuse to fix something that is broken.
black cat (#8c4a64) charismatic / observant / elusive
these people choose when to do what they want to do and they know how to get your attention. they’re very curious creatures, always mindful and keeping an eye out. they also know to vanish when some shit if about to go down.
the devil's hour is said to be a terrible hour to wake from your slumber, a lurking feeling of a shadow in the corner perhaps causes you to turn to the other side and face the wall. you don't want to look at whatever might or might not be there. emotions often drive you and when it comes down to it, you’ll probably choose flight when having to choose between it and fight.
spilled salt (#a2a585) confident / principled / self-critical
a superstition as old as they come, a nonchalant action meant to fight off the devil hiding over your shoulder. you are beyond capable and also a bit self-hindering at the end of the day. you know what you’re about, even if you’re a little bit of a perfectionist about it.
